Should I get the g10 or the lw version because I tend to drop things
Regularly and am worried about the lw having no liners and breaking
But the g10 is heavier which one is tougher ?
Just in case you should get one of each. You have 2 hands so you need 2 knives. It's a natural thing. :)
Can you find it and can it cut?

manix 2 lw or para 3 lw. back locks are a pain for gloves and not playful normally anyway. compression lock, or liner locks are easiest for gloves but the manix cbbl isnt too bad either.

I have to respectfully but totally disagree...

In my experience (and I have some concerning gloves and locks), back locks work very well with gloves, maybe just liner locks are still a bit better.
When it comes to Cbbl I have just "non gloves"- experience, so here I am not entitled to give an opinion.
Comp locks though do not work well with gloves imho.

Again, I absolutely respect your opinion, but mine is different.

EDIT: I want to add: When it comes to backlocks, wearing gloves I like a boye dent. Wouldn't need one without gloves.

I'm not trying to be rude here

But at this point just flip a coin between the stretch and the manix

Try one for a bit. If you don't like it, sell it as a second hand, use that to them help buy the other one.

For a warehouse, my primary user would preferably be a stout, affordable wharncliffe for general utility and opening boxes, cutting straps, etc. I'd later get a backup once I found out whether or not having a serrated knife would be beneficial.

Man, what,'s going on here? Is this a joke or something?!
Just buy a Stretch or a Manix, I personally prefer the Stretch, but BOTH are absolutely great knives and you just can't go wrong! And in order to find out what YOU prefer concerning knives you have to bring yourself to just buy one eventually anyway.

/ I am not sure what you mean by "thin" steel, VG 10 and CTS BD1 are just different KINDS / SORTS of steel, both can be grinded equally thick or thin. The blade stock of the Manix is slightly thicker, but so little that you probably won't even be able to see the difference.

So,just order now and then let us know WHAT... ;)

I'm about to just send him my Manix 2 LW and call it a day. Losing a $100 knife would be worth it over seeing this thread pop up everyday!

Thank you! Let us know what you think once you get it.

Had a random thought, concerning the problem with dropping knives...I wonder if using one of those double hook clasps that people use attached to a belt loop on their pants and typically attach their keys to the other end...but instead of using keys on the other end, maybe use something that's retractable with a decent amount of length that you can attach through the lanyard hole on the knife? As long as it provided enough length to give you a full range of motion for your cutting tasks.

That may sound confusing, hard to put into words, but I know what I mean haha.

My wife has to use something like that to go through security at her bank. She clips it to her belt loop and when she has to go through a secured area, she just grabs her badge and extends it to the security reader thing and scans it in. Then it retracts back to her belt loop. Hers probably has about 3ft worth of slack in the cable.

Seems like something like that could be very helpful and unobtrusive for you.

19 years in a warehouse. The Manix was one of the best knives I used there in situations where it might drop. The fact that it closes so easy means you close it right after cutting so if it falls, it’s closed already. And it’s fun so you don’t mind opening and closing it constantly if that’s what your work day requires.
If you're wielding the sharpest tool in the shed, who's going to say that you aren't...?

Very good! I am looking forward to reading here how you like it, maybe even first impressions. It's a great and very ergonomic design.

Had a Manix once, really liked it a lot, but in the end other models just slightly better.

That said, if I only could have Manixes for the rest of my life, from a practical standpoint I'd be totally ok with that.

I think if I were you I'd opt for the LW version. I have heard of G-10 chipping when dropped. FRCP is much more durable in this regard, I believe.

Manix 2 LW.
Get the basic one please.
It's cheaper, lighter, and less of a risk of something happens.
Try it out.
Than decide whether you'd want to upgrade it to G10 or a different blade steel

BUY THE MANIX 2 LW

That's a question I understand you have to ask.

I personally would get the lightweight. It's still plenty strong, costs less money, is noticeable lighter in the pocket and the steel (CTS BD1) will be easier to sharpen than S30V (the steel of the basic G10 model) for you being quite new to knives as far as I understand.

Though if you use your knife constantly on cardboard and the like, you will have to sharpen it quite often if it is in CTS BD1. And certainly more often than the S30 V model. But, as said, sharpening will go quite fast and easy on the lightweight.

And let me add: Do yourself a favor and get a sharpmaker too... unless you already own a sharpening device that works for you.
