I already posted, Hawkbill Dfly, Fluted CF Native, Para3, Shaman, and Delica as my top 5, here's 5 more :D

1. G-10 Police4 K390, nothing cuts better.
2. S110V PM2, stainless cutting machine and workhorse.
3. Hawkbill Ladybug, you can't pack more usefulness into a smaller package.
4. G-10 S30V Manix, still the best cost/value.
5. Lil Native, all the power and durability of a full size knife in an office friendly package.

Its hard to pick 5 lol....to start there are two different divisions of design.... Colabs and In-House designs...and there are so many of Sal and Eric's designs incredible how many hall of famers ...and then legendary Colabs that made very high end customs much more affordable but still pretty exquisitely made...really hard to pick 5

Bloke, you are a truly a man after my own heart.

Where's the Bow River, though?
Apologies Tom, I just saw your post. :o

Great minds think alike, so they reckon. Ah, hahaha!

I'd have loved a Bow River like the Southfork and Sprig with Green G10 scales and S90V blade but it wasn't to be so no Bow River for me.

In terms of pure design, because my first Spydey is in the mail as of a few hours ago (PM2 standard, VERY excited) :
Military
PM2
Shaman/Native/Chief
Opus
Tenacious

For having handled a few before buying, I prefer an upper and lower choil because I have semi-large hands and like using my knife for precise actions, so the better the grip.
The Opus is kind of an oddball but, like the Smock, there's something undeniably attractive about it.

Edited because apparently the online store I bought it from no longer had Millies in stock :(

I've actually been really impressed with the Bow River. The design is fantastic, and it's a great EDC or kitchen utility knife (I've done both with it at this point). I'd love to see a sprint in an upgraded steel, but for what it is, it's great. My only complaint (of course) is the necessary frequency of sharpening.

1., manix 2
2., para 2
3., Superhawk
4., Police 4
5., superleaf, Gayle Bradley 2, spydiechef, endura.
Great thread!!
I'm willing to bet that you actually meant to say "SPYDERHAWK" in H-1. Because as far as my memory goes the 2009 era Superhawk was only ever available in VG-10. I'm also willing to bet that the other guys that listed the Superhawk meant to say "SPYDERHAWK".

I'm kind of surprised that I'm really about the only one who mentioned any of the old-school ( pre 2005 models) models. I would just go wild if Spyderco would bring back the C-60 Ayoob and Temperance 1 models in newer/better blade steels.

But with all things considered there are some very interesting selections that most of you guys put up. Great thread!!

1. PM2 (your steel of choice): Just an all-round perfect do-everything knife.
2. Advocate (CQI): Quintessential blade shape; M4 steel; very snappy flipper; thin and pocket friendly especially w/deep carry clip.
3. Gayle Bradley 2: Perfectly proportioned from tip to heel; M4 steel; again quintessential blade shape (Gayle Bradley keeps nailing it).
4. Military (your steel of choice): thin and slicey 4 incher.
5. Spydersaw (discontinued, sadly): Silkys rule the compact folding saw class and I love my F180, however they still don't have anything as compact, thin, light and well built as a Spydersaw. On long hikes I like tossing this and a PM2 in my pack.

I favor open-pillar construction, compression-locks and frame-locks locks the most. My choices are based on what I find most useful in my outdoor recreational pursuits: fly fishing, backpacking, hiking, camping.

Nine months later and I've made significant changes to my top 5:

1. PM2 (your steel of choice): Just an all-round perfect do-everything EDC.
2. Shaman (any variant): Camp knife!
3. Manix 2: Another great EDC.
4. Yojimbo 2: A wickedly beautiful ugly knife.
5. Military (your steel of choice): Light weight slicey 4 incher.

1. Sage 2 - It's the perfect Spyderco for me (or as close to perfect as I've found so far).
2. Salsa Ti - Hopefully one day I'll find one at a price I can afford, and buy it. This could almost be 1b for me.
3. Native 5 liner-less family - replacing the liners with thread inserts solved the problems I had with the linered G10 version. Available in everything from low cost base LW, to Salt, to CF / S90V premium versions.
4. Calypso Jr Black Micarta - It was the Goldilocks between the Chaparral and the Native, with a Dragonfly style spine swedge and gorgeous scales.
5. Q Ball - It was expensive for what it was, but it was the ultimate expression of a Spyderco wharncliffe.

1) Delica 4 M390
2) Delica 4 Cruwear
3) Delica 4 VG10 (maybe this deserves the #1 spot as I've used it for so much longer)
4) Delica 4 S30V
5) Delica 4 VG10 Damascus (mostly a looker and not a user)

Since I like the smaller blades, mine are:
- Chap (LW is the current favorite)
- Caly 3 (CF versions)
- Dragonfly (Salt or stainless)
- UKPK or Urban
- Native (LW)

Chaparral CF/G-10 – great small knife, super slicer, attractive, easy to pocket
SpydieChef - one of the best production slicers, excellent construction quality, uniquely functional blade
Sage 5 - bigger, compression lock analogue of the Chaparral. Great handle
Kapara - nice CF scales. Pretty functional blade. Good handle, though a bit skinny near the pivot for my hands, which also compromises the compression lock for me a bit
Caribbean - I've never actually had one, but I needed to pick a fifth, and this seems a great functional user

Hmm. Hard to narrow it down...

1. Stretch 1
2. Dyad
3. Khukri
4. Spyderhawk (Large SE hawkbill is maybe not the best EDC knife, but it's unbeatable in the garden or clearing brush).
5. Serrata.

Honorable mention goes to the Barong, Centofante 3, Hungarian, and byrd Wings Slipit.
