I’m with Marius on this one. Doubt it will replace my urbans. I would very much like to hear what doc or some other urban user thinks of the lil native platform.

Bump, again.

Has the relatively affordable Urban LW’s success introducing European steels (now four), delayed the LN slippie or, worse, put it on indefinite hold?

Golden is strangely silent on this knife. Maybe Sal will chime in soon.

I would hope that the success of the HH UKPK would make this more likely.

Aeb-l Urban’s are still sitting on dealers shelves, however, which might have turned Spyderco off slipjoints, but the f&f issues killed demand for that model imho - the much better quality, Golden made HH UKPK has sold out twice now.

A Golden made slip joint Lil Native promises to be just excellent.

Yeah, I think the AEB-L Urbans shouldn't be used as a gauge to measure the success of a Spyderco slipjoint, they are more for steel nerds, plus the color choice isn't for everyone. The folks who wanted the Urban probably already have one in other variants.

Speaking for myself, I'm just not a fan of the Maniago slippies, the FRN they use pales in comparison to the FRN used in my Native 5, it's a night and day difference.

The S30V UKPK is such a high quality piece that I am very excited for when the Lil Native slippie eventually drops. If Golden can match the amazing work they did on the UKPK, this will be one of the finest EDC choices for the European market without a shadow of a doubt.

Personally I am gutted I missed the k390 urban. I didn't go for the AEB-L as it seems like a good choice for a fixed blade due to it being so tough. But doesn't seem like a good choice for a small slipjoint where I would want edge retention. If there was a Vanax or Nitrobe 77 I would be very interested.

Has there been any positive word about a Lil Native slipjoint recently, or has it slipped under?

Many other companies have bee using this steel in small folders for decades. It’s popular.

I haven’t heard a whisper. Maybe someone from Spyderco will say yay or nay.

Thanks for the update! Glad to hear it. :spyder:

I was recently considering making a thread inquiring if this was still in their plans. The silence about it after we were shown the original prototypes seemed odd to me.

Sorry I posted it on Edge Matters. It was as from the upcoming list on this forum as suggested. Hadn't realised it had been there for ages. Apologies for raising false hopes. My misunderstanding. Bit gutted now.
