Caly 3

#1

Post by Catamount123 »

I just got in a Caly 3 HAP40 sprint. It immediately felt like an old friend. I had forgotten how good this knife feels in my hand. Someone else said the Caly 3 is what a Delica wants to be when it grows up, and I have to agree ;)

If you've never had the pleasure of handling a Caly 3, I suggest you to hunt one down and see for yourself.

Yes, it is indeed an awesome knife! If you like it you will be blown away by a C54. If God carries a Spyderco he/she carries a Calypso. :)

As good as the caly 3 feels, the 3.5 just feels better (as least in my hands).

I generally prefer blades over 3 inches, and I was going to wait and hope they release a companion Caly 3.5 Sprint. I really like HAP40 and this shade of green G-10, so when I found a Caly 3 at a good price, I couldn't resist. I'm glad I didn't, because I'm realizing that this one is pretty much the perfect “small” Spyder for me. It's the kind of knife that makes me go around looking for things that need cutting :D

The Caly3 is the knife that got me to stop carrying a Kershaw Leek: same size, same thinness, but better quality. In fact, it is as thin, or very nearly, as my CF Chaparral. The difference there is the weight. The Chaparral is lighter. Caly3: great knife.

I think Sal said there’s a Hap40 Caly 3.5 planned, isn’t it?
Meanwhile...

I know at one point he said he'd look into it but not sure he ever said it's actually planned. I do know he said the Caly 3.5 LW is forthcoming.

Yes, 3 is wonderful. Yes, ready for a new 3.5. LW would be very interesting.
