I like the concept too, for me the blade to handle ratio has to be right...that grind almost would warrant an ever so slightly shorter handle

The PM 2 Tanto looks awesome. I was thinking of an American Tanto Delica and Endura to go along with the work themed Wharncliffed blades, the American Tanto can be an EDC themed blade. I like it better in the PM series, a Para 3 Lightweight Tanto would be an awesome EDC.

I can already see the PM2 fanbois slobbering all over the place imagining the tanto PM2 in more flavors than ice cream in a Italian ice cream shop :)

I'll take the gelato over a tanto PM2!

When I was in Italy I learned to eat gelato the Italian way instead of the boring American way (I visited the same Gelateria every day and had been getting two scoops of the same flavor and no cream), eventually the server informed me that the correct method is to choose two different flavors and accept the offered cream on top... the "cream" is the most amazingly dense whipped cream you can imagine and there were so many great flavors of gelato and sorbetto available (different every day) that having only one was foolish. Even the best American ice cream pales in comparison.

I would lay money on a tanto bladed PM2 being a solid sales performer though.

Maybe it is just me, but I didn't like the way that tanto PM2 looked. I'll pass.

I say; let it come! Apocalyptic look and CPM3V would be awesome. No FRN but G-10. All black with stonewashed blade.
Did you write that down Sal?

Interesting, but of little use to me. So I'll have to pass on this one.

I was thinking the same thing either the MIlitary or Paramilitary2 would be good in a Japanese style Tanto the American tanto is too Angular to pull it off.

Awww heck who am I kidding make both! :)

Not into Tantos, just not a useful blade shape for me. I’d much prefer a Spyderco “Razel”. But it does make sense for them to do it. Along with the idea from the sheepsfoot thread, why not put out some options? I can’t see it costing too much really. All they have to do is a quick cad drawing to check clearances and grind a few blades different and we know there’s ppl who will grab them for use and collections even if they have a bit higher price tag.

I love the idea! How thin behind the edge do you think they could/would make it?

Really cool to see!

Sounds like it might become a BladeHQ Exclusive?

:spyder:

Quick screenshot from the BladeHQ video. Eric said this is just a "hand ground prototype."

Well that would suck.

I haven’t had time to watch the video yet but I fully support this Tanto idea. I’ve felt for a long time that there was a hole in Spyderco’s linup with no Tanto blade offering. This is a perfect solution since tanto’s don’t seem to sell very well according to Spyderco. They can just use the para 2 tooling and change the blade grind. If it sells, great. If it doesn’t, it’ll make for one heck of a collectible.
A billion percent correct are you, Cobra. This is the ultimate Pocket Samurai Sword.

I love it. Please Spyderco make it for sale.
