Spyderco Warrior Hawk Axe

#1

Post by steeljustice »

I see the Spyderco Warrior Hawk has a blade made from D2 steel and sells for $312 at one on line site, i don't have anything against D2 steel but for that high price i would want 5160 as the blade steel.

I have seen many small axes like SOG&Cold Steel axes selling for around $45 dollars using both 420&1055 for their blade steels, and have watched many of their on line videos and see them holding up very well and giving good service.

And there all Mfg.ed in Taiwan as is the Spyderco Axe.

So could we have another designed Axe from Spyderco using 420 or 1055 for blade steel at a somewhat lower price?

Just a thought am sure the Spyderco Warrior Hawk is a quality Axe, but in just chopping some fire wood around a camping site i can deal with the lower costing Axes.

Spyderco is unlikely to bring more hawks to market in the near future due to its saturation. I'd recommend you just get yourself a Cold Steel Pipe Hawk or Trail Hawk and be done with it.

Of course, I'm not "in the know" of Spyderco's plan, so it's possible they'll give us something interesting in the realm of hawks.

I'd like to see Spyderco offer some outdoor tools in the lower price ranges too. The Bow River will cover the small skinner role.

Gotta admit that it's going to be hard for any company to compete with the $20 hatchets Fiskars puts out. They're the moras of hatchets.

No... it's not an older model. It was just released in 2018 and some online stores are currently sold out waiting to re-stock. If you Google any number of online stores, you can either pre-order it, or some still have it in stock, or you can wait for your favorite retailer to get it back in stock:

Only item i don't care for on Spyderco Warrior Hawk Axe, is the hammer thing, i want the spike like is on the Cold Steel War Hawk Tomahawk Axe 90PTWH it comes in very handy in splitting logs and getting through doors.
https://www.bladehq.com/item--Cold-Stee ... Axe--28490
I don't see the need for the hammer on the rear of the Spyderco Wariror Hawk blade.

Axes are fine but I recommend a deep carry clip for discrete carry

True, that could be embarassing. You don’t want to look silly. Neck carry might be the better option.
