Yes it is both a good EDC and a nice food prep folder, and yes you should make your move. IMHO, If you like the Stretch, you'll love the Kapara.

It has a level of refinement that belies its price point. It is an exceptional slicer that equally fits the genre of EDC, food preparation, and even as a gentlemen's folder. It has the smoothest action of any Spyderco I've handled, and its ergonomics are exceptional. It has some of the minor Taichung fit and finishes differences with its Golden-made counterparts; sharper thumb hole and CF blemishes on the scale side of the material. Both of these very nit-picky detractions are easily corrected by the user. Otherwise, it's a fantastic knife.

I loved it, but I found the handle to be too thin(height) for me and it pinched my hand when I opened it.

If it was taller and the lock was moved slighty, It would have been perfect for me.

If your hand fits it right, it will be glorious!!!

My Kapara is light, elegant and as smooth as a nicely broken in PM2 with some use. Blade shape and clip are vastly different than the PM2. Usefulness as an EDC is equal for my needs in food prep, box and cordage work, and general utility. If you like the PM2 and either like of don't mind the wire deep pocket clip and like a long slender blade in a thinner package with a compression lock I would definitely try the Kapara.

Agree with this assessment. It's a good design but not a great one. I thought it would be a slam dunk for me but I ended up passing it on.

I'm very intrigued by this one. I think I'll go for it once we get more of those 20% off Ebay coupons. I can't justify $188 on a knife right now.

It's on my list, because I'm a sucker for a wire clip and CF.
