I got Endura in V-Tuko last year, I'm hoping for a stretch in a limited steel or sprint run in 2019.
Stretch in V-Toku2 just dropped in case you missed the news.

Will look it up later and know already a bit about it anyway, so just if you find time for this: Briefly, how does V-Toku compare to VG 10?
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):
- EDC: Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10); Wayne Goddard PE (4V), Endela SE (VG10)
-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Dear Sal,

I just purchased this for $103.75 fully serrated should be cool!!

Never heard of G2 steel what does it compare to?

1983-93 Spyderco 1003R-SER / C03S Hunter Spyderedge G-2 Stainless Steel

Model Name: Hunter
Designer: Sal Glesser
Description: Third knife produced by Spyderco, designed as a Hunting knife, with a bigger belly.

Blade Length: 2 3/4″
Closed Length: 3 15/16″
Overall Length: 6 11/16″
Weight: 3.84oz

Blade Material: G-2
Blade Finish: Satin
Blade Grind: Hollow Grind
Handle Material: Stainless Steel
Locking Mechanism: Lock Back
Years Produced: 1983-1993
Manufacture Location: Seki-City Japan

Dear Wartstein,

I usually get good prices from people selling on eBay by doing one simple thing, I just send them a respectful message asking if they will accept what I would like to pay and explain I will pay immediately. One never knows when a seller is ready to move on. In this case the seller wanted $170.00 plus shipping. I wanted to pay $100.00 and they decided ok sold.

G2 is the same as Gin-1. A modern equivalent would be CTS BD1.

Here's a quote from Sal a few years ago:

"When we first began making knives in 1981, we used a steel called Gingami I. It was the best available stainless blade steel in Japan at the time. (It's called Gingami I which means "silver paper" which was the color of the paoer in which the steel was shipped). We wanted to put the name of the steel on the blade, but the maker had "giri" (obligation) to another manufacturer and wouldn't allow us to use the name Gingami I. There was no US equivalent to the Hitachi steel, but we had to make some kind of designation because we were payng a premium for the steel and had to justify the higher cost to our customers. We decided to call the Steel G2 (which stool for "good sh*t also") and offered the chemistry of the steel in our literature. "

Hi Whatever,

When we began making knives in Seki (1981), I wanted to put the steel on the blade. The Japanese maker would not let me put Gingami 1 or Gin 1 on the blade because at the time he had made a commitment to another customer. (We were small potatoes and had no clout). So we put G2 on the blade, which stood for "Good Sh*t Also" and gave out the chemistry with the knives as there was no American equivalent at the time.

Congrats on the C03 find. Putting the two side by side will demonstrate 30+ years of evolution. There are about 5 or 6 models in the middle.

(Looks like Born beat me to it, thanx)

Hi Whatever,

Thanx for the trip down memory lane. I don't know what we could do to it to make it better? It looks very nice.

Well I was kind of thinking the guys and gals at Spyderco might like to see it as well, I remember talking to a nice fellow there when I sent in an older military for spa treatment and he was glad to see it and remembered it's model well It is fully serrated model in CPM 440V.

That and the knife did come back better than when I sent it in. Sharper and Buffed up nicely. They also adjusted the tension in the clip.

This all goes to the value of Spyderco in my opinion. Don't get me wrong whomever else reads this I have tried many brands Spyderco is the best in my opinion for so many reasons.
