I would love to try one but $178 for VG10? Can't do it.. sorry
VG-10 was a selling point for me. Out of curiosity which steel would have made it worthwhile for you?

Ideally 20CV I think but I would take S30V (which other people were complaining about on $100 knives)

I'm sure VG10 has it's place and some people love it but I think they have different reasons for their choices than I do.

Parata is a no go for me. Totally impractical and not even that cool looking, IMO. :)

One thing is for sure it is not going to be for everyone it is about the most exotic looking Spyderco ever and that is saying something.

I use a Benchmade Nestucca cleaver in the kitchen and it is just about all belly absolutely love the design for kitchen use and I am certain is a perfect skinning knife. Here is what it looks like.

https://nalpak.com/benchmade-15100-nest ... gIT-_D_BwE

That being used as a comparison I bought the Parata with full expectation of it exceeding the Nestucca's use in the kitchen and also being able to EDC the knife as a folder.

I also bought it just because it is such an outrageous design. The first thing I thought when I saw it was oh is that for real? Wow that looks neat.

Based on the May 2, 2019 release of the Spyderco 2019 Reveal Volume 2 and projecting the 90 days thereafter means that these should make it out to U.S. dealers within the next 2-3 weeks. I checked all the Spyderco knives in the Reveal Vol. 1 released on January 11, 2019 and all were at U.S. dealers between February 26, 2019 and May 2, 2019 (46 to 111 days).

  • Z-Cut models (USA)
  • Murray Carter Collection Itamae Series (Japan)
  • Police4 VG-10 Black FRN (Japan)
  • Sage5 CPM-30V Black FRN (Taiwan)
  • Emphasis 8Cr13MoV PlainEdge Black G-10 (China)
  • Emphasis 8Cr13MoV ComboEdge Black G-10 (China)
  • Insistent 8Cr13MoV PlainEdge Black G-10 (China)
  • Insistent 8Cr13MoV ComboEdge Black G-10 (China)

The Murray Carter Collection was also featured in the Reveal Volume 2. Should we be expecting to see those as well?

I have my fingers crossed! :D

Yes. The Murray Carter Collection Itamae Series was also in the 2019 Spyderco Reveal Volume Two.

I certainly hope your estimate is correct. I've had a Police 4 LW on pre-order since May 6th and the wait has been murder. So many tempting things have appeared that were vying for those dollars. I had convinced myself it would drop by Labor Day, and you're guess concurs with mine.

90 days from May 2, 2019 would make it August 1, 2019 but for Volume 1 the last one was delivered 111 days after reveal date which would make it August 22, 2019. You're correct that these are just estimates.

In the past, Kristi has said that Spyderco's intention is to have the knives in each reveal catalog delivered within a 90-120 day window. 111 days sounds like its right on schedule! :D

The number of Para 3 Sprints and Exclusives released this year is embarrassing. It's a stain on America. :(

How many models of one particular knife is really necessary? Heck, I've got (3) Para 3's and I'm bored of that many! At one point had 7 and realized it was pointless investing that much in one model.

Same size, feel, you know what to expect every time one shows up on the door step. Just a different steel, or scale color.

Variety brother!!! Give other models a chance!

They do get their chance. And if you don't mind, I happen to to be a man of variety myself. I have knives with 46 different steels and around 20 different Spyderco models. I have around 20 different machetes, I'd say 200+ fixed blades, a dozen swords, 300+ non-Spyderco folders and maybe 50 knife like thingies.

My point is the Para 3 market for the last TWO YEARS was hot potatoes and now is ZERO. Except we got a cheap version to appease, well I'm not sure who.

Ever since the first Para3 came out in December 2016 we’ve seen a substantial number of them since and even thus far this year once you include the DLT Trading Exclusive we’ll have 4!

2016: 1
2017: 7
2018: 14
2019: 4 (including DLT and the year is young)

Only 2 in 2019 as the Maxamet turned out to be a repeat and the DLT is still just a rumor. We got cheapened versions even after all the sprints and exclusives sold out, sometimes in minutes. This a national disgrace.
