The number of Para 3 Sprints and Exclusives released this year is embarrassing. It's a stain on America.
How many models of one particular knife is really necessary? Heck, I've got (3) Para 3's and I'm bored of that many! At one point had 7 and realized it was pointless investing that much in one model.
Same size, feel, you know what to expect every time one shows up on the door step. Just a different steel, or scale color.
Variety brother!!! Give other models a chance!
They do get their chance. And if you don't mind, I happen to to be a man of variety myself. I have knives with 46 different steels and around 20 different Spyderco models. I have around 20 different machetes, I'd say 200+ fixed blades, a dozen swords, 300+ non-Spyderco folders and maybe 50 knife like thingies.
My point is the Para 3 market for the last TWO YEARS was hot potatoes and now is ZERO. Except we got a cheap version to appease, well I'm not sure who.
No offense because you obviously know more than me. But I got my first spyderco 23+ years ago. A spyder edge delica SS that I carried for decades. I had picked up a couple random Spydies since then. The Para 3 brought me back in. I bought the first release of para 3 and walked away from Spyderco again shortly after. Years later I have come back for more to realize I missed multiple versions of “my” favorite spyderco, the Para 3.
So... there is a reason that those that are still excited for Para 3 releases where we might have missed out. So I speak for myself that saying the market is “ZERO” is a complete farce.
I personally feel the Para 3 is the complete package where I live based on laws. I have picked up larger knives but they aren’t legal to carry here in CA.
Only 2 in 2019 as the Maxamet turned out to be a repeat and the DLT is still just a rumor. We got cheapened versions even after all the sprints and exclusives sold out, sometimes in minutes. This a national disgrace.
Lol you and your Para3’s. What would you say to a Para3 in Cruwear combo edge DLC?

What he meant is the consumer market is still there, but the production market has dropped down to zero (well... 2 this year - DLT red m390 and s35 brown/dlc). There are still many of us who still snap up Para 3's like crazy. Last year was great with all the new steels and colors. Then this year, 8 months into the year hasn't been very exciting.
Ah. Sorry. I mis-interpreted what he was saying. I did get the brown S35V. :)
Crux has like...well all of the Para 3's. I have 13. I don't have the new Para 3 LW as I'm waiting for a sprint to try out, but not sure I'd like the LW any better than the g10. I know others have the opposite opinion. The closest other models I have to collecting are 2 PM2s', 3 Natives, and 2 Embassys'. I have various other models but not multiples. Para 3 is my favorite by far.
I hope distributors don't stop caring about the Para 3 to favor the LW. I hope we can have both.

As much as I love cruwear passing on the smooth handled native #1 too small for my taste #2. Smooth G-10 is not my thing, I swapped out the smooth G-10 on a Cruwear PM2 and Man I could not be happier afterwards.
Which reminds me I need to sell those smooth Scales I know people like them.
