Paramilitary 2 with lc200n or H1?

#1

Post by Zatx »

I love my Paramilitary 2's, but I'm always having to work to prevent rust on them. Even my stain-less steels get a spot or two on them occasionally. Has there ever been thought given to giving my beloved PM2 the lc200n or H1 blade steel? If not, would you consider it, or is there a good reason this hasn't occurred?

Thoughts?

A lot of people, including me been asking about this for awhile.

I think the thought is, if going with a corrosion free steel, then the whole knife should in affect be corrosion free...i.e. lock components, liner inserts, etc. This obviously is more r&r than just a typical PM2 sprint with whatever steel.

With that said, a PM2 in LC200N is pretty much my grail knife, I imagine would be incredibly popular.

It won't happen in H1, because H1 cannot be FFG'd.

I'm betting there is a possibility of a limited run of them in LC200N somewhere down the line(?).

The Caribbean is in LC200N, and has a compression lock. I like the Caribbean much better than the PM2.

True, invariably, I'll keep a blade free of corrosion and then the stop pin rusts. :/

I'm down for another run in XHP personally. But LC200N is nice.

I'd buy an H1/SE Military Salt so hard my bank account would need therapy.

I’d like this but how would they do it? The whole knife would have to be rust proof.

I figure if they can do the Caribbean with Salt liners they can do a Military since it has even less liners.

That’s a good point. I guess I was thinking about the trouble they had with the Native salts backlock. They DLC coated it to combat rust, so I figured they’d have to do something similar for the pm2/Millie liner.

I wonder why they can pull it off with the Caribbean but not the Native (backlock).

The liners on the Caribbean are also made of LC200N.

Maybe not a Para 2, but I would be all over a Para 3 in LC200N.

Laughing I am with you brother! Will also be clobbered by an LC200N for at least two of them. Ouch just purchased two of the TI CF Millies from Knife Works but lucked out. Girlfriend bought the first one for me for Christmas. I opened it and pocketed it to see if I wanted a back up while they last, and got totally busted.

I'd take a serrated H1 Military and a PE LC200N Military. Especially if they can be Salt-ized in their current G10 Liner Lock form. Man, a fully stainless G10 Military with a tough as nails SE H1 blade would be something!

You know, I would be interested in a PM2 with LC200N even if it did not get the full Salt treatment.
But I am not lobbying for this by any means. I should buy the Native 5 Salt and be happy.
And I might sometime in 2019.

I could imagine that Spyderco would want to avoid anything but a full salt because many people would buy it, throw it in their salt water
aquarium and then start complaining that hardware other than the blade is rusting if only the blade was LC200N.
