I have a Gen ?? Delica CLIPIT (integral plastic clip) with G-2 Steel that was gifted to my in the mid 90's. Would this be a GEN 2 knife? Thanks in advance for any help!

Its basicly a gen 1 delica , they came in the black cardboard box with white outline , black lettering
, the g2 was because the bladesmith had an obligation to previous buyers who had the rights to the gingami 1 steel and spyderco wasnt allowed to use that designation so they called it g2 instead

They are good aren't they ?

I have a few Endura 1's (and maybe 2's, not sure) with Plastic clips.

Still working out the differences between the thin and thick plastic clips.
I like the plastic grip and how it feels in my hand/palm.

But yes i perfer the profile of the original due to the tip profile , and the new ones flex at the locking joint when heavier cutting tasks are performaed , the crowned thumb hole saves my thumb when opening as well i carry the frn gen 1 delica every day and its by far my favorite knife ...ever !

I stand corrected. You are right, well picked up. Gen 2's were Stainless knives (from what I can tell).

The variation between thick and thin plastic moulded clip was obviously a variation in Gen 1's.

Either way I'm happy with mine.

This is correct. There was no American equivalent to it so we called it G2 (whch stood for "Good Sh*t) and provided the chemistry to customers.

Once the obligation was finished, we could go to GIN 1 ( which stood for Gingami 1 ).

Which was the first stainless I liked and respected. It helped kick off my steel junky hobby. I looked at the listed composition in the paperwork and compared it to steels I didn't like such as 440C. I was trying to understand steel and predict whether I would like a steel or not. The more I learned the more complicated it got though. :) Twenty some years later I know enough to understand much of what I knew wasn't true. I'm not even halfway where I want to be.
