Spyderco Stepped titanium chaparral

I've been using (and loving ) the Carbon Chaparral for a few months now and absolutely believe it's one of the best all around lightweight EDC blades. I grabbed a Stealth chap on closeout as soon the discontinued list came out and figured that would be my last Chaparral for awhile.

While browsing the black Friday sales online I came across the Stepped Titanium /Advocate combo for just the price of the beautiful Gayle Bradley! I couldn't pass it up especially since I've been enamored with the Taichung flipper for some time. This STEPPED TITANIUM CHAPARRAL is a modern machining marvel that borders on art! Definitely the pinnacle of production gentlemans folders that I've come across so far.

BTW...the Advocate is the new CQI version

That was a crazy good deal you got. Beautiful knife. I've been on the fence about that pattern.

That deal was rediculously good! It would've been hard to resist if I didn't already have the Advocate.

Got mine today, I can now see why only 10 per day could bo produced. How is this knife compared to a CRK? Has a real quality to the build.

Hi Extra,

Thanx for posting. I think you'll be glad in the future that you have it. The Chaparral is one of my special projects and the stepped design is one that I have been carrying for almost 70 years. ( I used to draw these "no curved lines" designs that appear curved while in grade school ) I'm glad to have been able to put it into a model. I'm testing a new Chaparral proto that Eric just brought home from Taiwan. It's a design that I tried to do in the "Solo" brand years ago and the maker couldn't pull it off. I believe our Taichung maker will do a great job. The "stealth" Chaparral is another design that took years to refine. We probably won't make them again.

The stepped titanium on the Chaparral is a true master-design and a great pleasure! ... that's said

Its fascinating how both the stepped models are exactly the same,
but different aspects jump out of each one differently.

I actually prefer the "stealth" model even if the stepped version is more of a manufacturing feat.

Amazing that the stepped design was something you used to draw as a kid...then to watch it come to life as an adult! I actually think the Stealth is the best looking chaparral of the bunch. It just grabs you with the way the light reflects off the machining. ..almost holographic like! Looking forward to seeing what else the Chaparral line "brings" to the knife world. Thank you for sharing your story.

Beautiful with the blue for sure...makes the lines pop! I'm glad the combo deal I got from BladeHQ only came with the std stepped titanium! I don’t think I would have been able to pick one over the other and probably bought both! :)

The stepped designs are awesome. I'm sure at some point I'll regret not picking one up...especially the blue. I'm content with the CF & FRN versions for now.

Stealth is my favorite as well. Solid little knife.

I picked up a Stealth about 2 months ago, my first Chaparral. I now understand why so many people claim it’s the perfect small EDC, and I agree.

I just love the thin blade and thin handle. Both are the same thickness as a Vic alox Cadet. It cuts and carries exceptionally well.

In contrast, the ti gives it a bit of heft, and combined with the rock solid lock, it feels robust enough to conquer the world.

I don’t buy backups, but maybe I should make exception here...

The Stealth is wonderful. Besides looking cool, the machined pattern gives it a really nice subtle texture that is slightly grippy but smooth at the same time. Really glad I bought one.
