Yes
Thank you.

I want a Native Salt for everyday carry. Do you think it would be good for making sandwiches and cutting down cardboard boxes and related things as well as fishing?

I find the native5 to be a very good all around knife. It could easily be the only knife I use.

Tom, Lance thank you for the feedback. Sounds like Spyderco has a real winner on their hands. My knife budget for the year is blown so it’s going to have to be a 2019 pick up for me.

Sal, any chance this could be done with yellow g10?

Hi Cobra,

It could be done, but I really see no performance or practical reason to do so. I think the Caribbean could serve that function? We'll probably ultimately make it in another color, probably black?

Please tell me what tools I need to perform the above blade swap? I need a Spyderco Native Salt and what other knife's scales, and what tools?
The scales are from a black FRN Native5, which I melted slots for the wire clip on either side of the original middle clip screw with a hot flat head screwdriver. You need to find a small washer (or larger head 2-56 screw) to hold the wire clip in place.

You'll need a T8 and T6 for disassembly. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

I'm waiting to recover from the holidays before I add one to my rotation. I definitely need something rust resistant at work, because I'm tired of having to clean rust off the liners of my Delica's and Para 3.

Thanks Sal,

You’re right, there’s no real performance difference. It just comes down to personal preference I guess. Spyderco offers FRN and g10 versions of the same model all the time. I’m not an FRN guy is all. Would love a G10 version.

Hi PerfectBlade,

Welcome to our forum.

I did get your email. I would suggest sending it in to customer service and I'll give Them a "heads up" that it's coming.

FRN, G-10 or CF, it doesn't matter to me as long as it's a Para 3. IMHO :)
Can you find it and can it cut?

Yes black! Please! I want one for edc and black is so much better suited for that role in my opinion. For the meantime sporting the yellow but I would love something more discrete. Any idea on when we might see a black version Sal? Thanks

Edit: Sal would the regular black handles that are used for the s30v native work for the salt? Are the threaded inserts rust resistant or did you have to use new material for those parts?

. I don’t think the design will ever lend itself to being flickable like a PM2. It’s not that knife. But...
Mine is.
But then is is the s35vn version.
Wish I had the salt one... should I wait a bit to see if they become more available? Some places still have them on preorder believe it or not!
