Just joined from the UK

#1

Post by Chandelierman »

I had a few knives mainly Cold Steel / Kershaw but sold them all apart from one ....I recently got a 560 Benchmade Freek but couldn’t gel with it so sold that too ...I got my first Spyderco a UKPK and to be honest I wasn’t Impressed so sold that aswell but all is not lost ...I bought a PM1 / military DLC Camo earlier this week ...a BIG improvement on the UKPK but i was not keen on tip down only so I have ordered a PM2 which should be here on Tuesday

Hi Chandelierman,

Welcome to our forum.

How much time do you spend with these models before you decide to sell them?

I usually have them for a few months ...I take them out of their boxes every now and then ... I use my Kershaw CQC6XL on a daily basis... the UKPK was much too light ....the 560 Freek felt too good to use on a daily basis ... I live the Military I just bought but like to carry tip up so I have ordered the PM2 ... unfortunately for me there are no local spyderco stockists so I rely on YouTube reviews or whatever I can find out on the net

What did you not like about the ukpk?

It was my first spyderco purchase and I was used to carrying a heavier knife ... the UKPK was much too light for me but the guy I sold it too loved it

Welcome, Chandelierman. I'm a fan of the old PM1 but also prefer the tip up option. Let us know how you like the PM2 when it arrives.

Greetings from this side of the pond. I think you will like the PM2, it is hard not to like.

Nonetheless, we will be interested to hear what you do think about it.

I’m sure I will like the PM2... I like the PM1 but prefer tip up ... I have a lathe so could easily make some top hat inserts and make it tip up but for now I will leave it as it is .... in the UK (unless we have good reason) we are not allowed to carry a locking blade .. I originally bought the Lansky and Boker world legal followed by the Spyderco UKPK ... for me the Boker was the best of the 3 but being a slipjoint it was very hard to open .... I use my blade daily at work (one handed opening is just what I need) so I have “good reason” to be carrying a locking blade

Ha! I'd been trying to think of some way to recommend a Manix 2 without disparaging the PM2. I'll be very interested in finding out how you like the Manix. Also, since you like the original Paramilitary, I think you might like to check out the Para 3, with its slightly shorter blade.

I am hoping PM2 is due for delivery today ... I’m thinking the PM3 blade might be too small in comparison to the original military and PM2 ....I am looking to Get various models with different locking systems to see which I like best
