Have no idea if they are real, or how the seller(s) acquired them if they are, but it didn't take much digging to turn up 4 completed eBay auctions for "Production Sample" Spyderco Respect Bowies. 3 of the 4 were listed at various times in October by a pawnshop in Colorado
, the 4th was listed in November by someone in PA, and may simply be one of the 3 from CO being re-listed by whoever won one of the October auctions.
The million dollar question is......WHO brought them into the pawnshop in the first place?
I'd be more inclined to phrase that question as "how did the pawnshop acquire them in the first place?".
Still, not sure if that, or "are they real" is the bigger question. Catalog shows a handle with no visible hardware, auction knives have 4 very visible fasteners. Prices they fetched seem low, even without a box or sheath, for a knife that will have a $560 MSRP and $364 street price. No obvious sign of a "seconds notch" and they were originally listed before the Spyderco factory sale, so I doubt they're seconds. Buyers either got remarkable bargains or the got burnt.
