Re: What's your favorite big-big Spyderco?
My three biggest Spydercos are the
- Lum Darn Dao, 10.63 inch CPM-154 Satin Plain Blade
- Stuart Ackerman Sustain with 6.2 inch CPM 20CV blade
- Jumpmaster 2 Fixed 4.5" H1 Serrated Leaf-Shaped Blade
I'm looking forward to buying MORE Spyderco fixed blades. They are some of my most unique knives and I really like the quality of them.

Looks like Spyderco needs a 6" folder a la cold steel
Re: What's your favorite big-big Spyderco?
i would like to see the china line offered in better steel. i love the resilience, but i would love it more in s30v or something similar.
a 5-6” blade would be sweet too, but those seem a little like a joke to me. i have a cold steel recon 1 xl, but i only bought it because it was on a ridiculous sale and it’s too hilarious of a knife to pass up at a good price. it makes me laugh every time i open it up. it’s a sweet knife, but i think spyderco is better off letting cold steel be a joke.

The Voyager XL and Recon XL are worlds more convenient to carry than a machete or chef knife, and can do a pretty decent job filling the role of either if the scale of the task isn't too big.
Re: What's your favorite big-big Spyderco?
I agree. Not to push a competitor here, but the CS Talwar XL is a pretty decent folding machete - keeps the pokey thistles and stinging nettle away from my hand when I need to clear some old field stuff and don't feel like going back for a real machete (although that is what I do when there is a lot to clear).
I want a Tatanka, but it is out of my price tolerance range for a VG10 knife.

Re: What's your favorite big-big Spyderco?
joke is probably too strong a word... i enjoy my recon xl, but i don’t find it convenient to carry or use. it’s more a conversation piece for me. i don’t find it as useful as a machete and carry an ontario 12” cutlass machete. my recon is the clip point, so it’s huge in the pocket, but i would like to have a tanto xl.

Re: What's your favorite big-big Spyderco?
My most carried is a fluted Ti S110V FrankenMillie, that said the Manix Xl fits my hand like a well worn glove
Re: What's your favorite big-big Spyderco?

Re: What's your favorite big-big Spyderco?
Though mine are mostly a “one of”, big-big Spydies, as such, began grabbing my attention once I got a Police4 for its K390 and Sal’s perfections. While I’ve wanted the Chief since forever, I’m hunting for a Calypso and will soon add Rex45 and S90V Millies to my much loved 204P Military. Still prefer my original Manix to my Manix2 XL, less for the heft than for the blade shape. And the Shaman is a lovely beast.
Oh, wait, you said “favorite”. I got nothin’.
