Really doesn't seem like it will be happening before Christmas. We still haven't seen what the leather sheath will be like. If I had to guess, I'd say that may be the speed bump in this project. Maybe design changes or material source changes to get the costs down? Can't be easy to make a Spyderco-quality leather sheath along with the knife for such a low price point, even in China.

Somewhere between free and crazy cheap.
In the US, MSRP is $49.95, or MAP of $32.47.

Lol dreaming! (Wild guess!)

And what I've noticed is people probably wouldn't know the difference between a cheap Chinese crap knife and any half reasonable knife.

Build to a price, not to a quality ?

In my experience it doesn't always end well.

There are plenty of good production fixed blades for under $40.

Even my last two hand made customs were only $60.

hey guys, I just wanted to let you know I have big hands. :unicorn

Custom makers of many things, if they aren’t trendy, ridiculously undercharge in my experience.

Yes

And everything out of China you pay for what you get.

I've actually seen some very high quality stuff coming out of China and other Asian countries.

That's especially true in soft goods (clothing, luggage, etc) where the primary contributor to quality is man-hours of labor (in doing more involved sewing). The labor is so much cheaper that they can produce a higher quality good at the same price point (when compared to trying to produce similar labor intensive goods in the US or EU).

Yes, but you get what you pay for.
I've had excellent quality out of China but it costs more than cheap stuff.

You can't compare cost of labour between us, eu and China unless you compare cost of living and other factors.

Most consumers can't tell the difference between a low quality and a medium/good quality garment.

I thought we were talking about the price/quality ratio from China?

We were, but China can do stuff better at a given price point than good ol’ USA, so he switched to talking about ... cost of living?

As far as the street price for this, it’s worth remembering that it’s a small piece of steel steel with some handles, not a fancy contraption. Considering you can get a Tenacious for around $40 it’s not an unfair question: why does the Bow River cost so much? But it’s cheap and I’m looking forward to it.

It seems like you're ignoring the cost and construction of the Bow River's leather sheath. Something the Tenacious, obviously, does not come with. The cheapest I'm seeing the Tenacious is $45. I think a $13 difference is significant.

I wasn’t ignoring that. The cost to produce a folder is significantly higher. More assembly time, more parts to machine, more places for QA to fail.

I am curious to see what this sheath looks like. I’m not expecting too much, and I’m fine with anything.
