Yojimbo has been on my radar for awhile and I will probably get one soon.

A Yojimbo yellow salt with black hardware and lc200n I would buy also.

What if the Yojimbo Salt had a sheepsfoot blade option also?

This is some serious wishful thinking. Spyderco seems very hesitant to make any sprint or variant of the yojimbo 2 so I doubt very much that a salt version would ever be considered. We have been asking for an all black dlc version which would help with corrosion resistance, as well as a s110v version, neither of which has been announced or released.

I like the idea but I doubt it will ever come true. If I had my choice, I would just ask for an s30v dlc version of the yojimbo 2. That would make many people happy and sort of act as a salt knife.

I just had to quote myself here. So glad I’ve finally got my DLC Yojimbo 2. Thanks Spyderco!

i’m glad to see this thread get some more traction. i hope spyderco is watching it. there’s definite demand for a yojimbo 2 salt (and a blacked out version as well). i just want to reiterate that s30v is fine for corrosion resistance. however, it can’t match lc200n. furthermore, in my opinion, a maintenance free steel makes the most sense for self defense blades. a yo2 in lc200n and a matriarch 2 wave in h1 just make so much sense. i can’t believe they haven’t been made already.

Yes, and with FRN? That would be more amazing than the new FRN Police.

while i’m not completely against the idea of a lw yo2 salt, i’d definitely prefer it the way it is with lined g10.

No more LW, please. I have zero desire to see this in FRN, unless it retains full liners.

The Para 3 is a prime example of why lightness can be a bad thing. The balance is so out of whack on it. It feels compromised and super nose heavy.

I'll take the extra weight, thanks.

Hi Guy,

Ultimately, if Michael's designs continue to be more popular, and if I had my way, we would eventually add an FRN model. Though we would probably maintain scaled versions. But in reality, we've got Michael working on something else first.

The Yo 2 is my EDC at work and even now at home, in the workshop and garden...
Not what it's intent was, but perfectly good for how I use it.

An FRN version with an SE H1 or LC200N blade would be great!

I like the "something else first" statement, Sal... :)

i also don’t understand the need to lw everything popular. it’s popular the way it is because of what it is. why change it? why change the balance? why change the handle materials for something less durable? why change the weight in hand and sturdiness? it seems counterintuitive to me, but it’s not my business, so i’ll shut up now and go back to hoping for a salt version however i can get it.

the something else may be the yojumbo...?

Hi Ladybug,

FRN permits a larger market that can afford the model.

unless a couple of ounces is more important to me than durability and blade steel, i’m going to pay the extra $30 for a tougher knife in a superior steel.

I will ALWAYS be willing to pay more for the HW.

LW does absolutely nothing for me. Infact, it turns me off. I don't want a compromise, I want a real knife.

The Para3 LW has solidified my beliefs. It is a completely compromised knife. It is all the way out of balance and substantially weaker than the standard Para3.

I guess, if the most demanding thing I do in a given day is the Starbucks Drivethru, a few ounces might actually be important(gotta have room for the daily milkshake, right?).

For me, I need a knife that can be THRASHED ON, without worry. I'm willing to pay the extra for that. However, aside from the potential FRN Caribbean(depending on liner situation), I will no longer be purchasing LW versions of pre existing designs.

To be fair, the Dragonfly works as a linerless LW. Large knives, do not.

I can't say a LW is not weaker, I think that's obvious vs steel liners. But, in all but the most extreme cases I do think at least the Manix 2 LW is strong enough.

Balance is definitely an issue so that's a personal preference thing too. I like lighter weight overall most of the time but I do also prefer weight to be centered in the handle so I understand that issue.

I want my pocket knives to be light and utilitarian. If I need to trash on something I need a fixed blade. I don't feel that my linered Delica is stronger than my Salt 2, not I feel my Para 2 is more heavy duty than my Pacific Salt... on the contrary perhaps.

i agree with both of you. my manix 2 lw is plenty strong and solid. however, most lw versions are a compromise. personally that compromise might be okay for an edc knife, but isn’t one i’m willing to make for a knife that is meant to be used in self defense. more realistically, it’s not one i’d like make for a knife that could potentially be pushed into a survival scenario either.
