#1

Post by Rsm801 »

Does anyone know if the southard ever came in elmax?
I did a quick google search and was only able to see it come in 204p steel
I ask beacue someone local here says they have one in elmax and i was thinking about trading my m4 pm2 to get my hands on some elmax, i already have other m4.
Thanks guys and sorry if my google skills are weak

There was a pm2 in elmax. The Lionspys are elmax and the sprint runs of the Titanium pingo and squeak are elmax.
I believe that's it for Spydercos in Elmax steel.

I didn't really like the Southard much. I do like 204p, but I like it a lot more in the Mili than the Southard. Personally, I'd rather have the PM2 in M4.

It kind just depends on what you want/like. I bought my Southard for a good price when they went on the discontinued list a year ago. I got a nice one (strong detent, smooth bearings, flips great) but, as nice as it is, I rarely carry it. I do carry a PM2, and other models, quite often. So I'd probably prefer the M4/CF PM2 just because I'd carry and use it more. I really like M4 too. Don't get me wrong, the Southard is a really nice knife. The finish on the blade and other details have to be seen to appreciate. Is the person you're considering trading with local to you? If so, I would recommend checking the knife out before you decide.

You beat me to it. :) I concur, that I prefer the PM2 to the Southard any day. As for the steel choice, I am okay with either. 204p has the advantage of being stainless.

PM2 is probably a better user and IMO the southard clip is pretty crappy so unless you're gonna buy an aftermarket clip for it I would keep the PM2.

I love my Spydercos, and the M4 PM2 in particular. Have more Spyderco knives than knives from other brands together.

But for a flipper in Elmax, I would look elsewhere.
