UKPK S110v?

Postby Dingo » Sat Oct 20, 2018 7:02 am

Well, my ukpk come and has been taken by the Mrs.
It is BD1N.
I would be annoyed if I wasn’t impressed by her actions.
Now I have a forum knife on order but unsure when my order will be processed let alone delivered.
So I need another ukpk and wonder if the S110v is worth the extra coin?

It's really a subjective decision based on what you want/need. I personally find BD1 or BD1N perfectly fine for my cutting needs and simple to sharpen, but I bought one in s110v too mainly because I wanted the dark blue scales. For others the steel upgrade is probably the driving factor and totally worth it.

The main thing is that UKPKs are awesome. :D

The s110v is a worthy upgrade over bd1. Less so over bd1n from what I have heard. Still trying to get one of those, but retailers are still saying the steel is bd1 and not listing the upgrade.

The bd1n she took was listed as bd1

I haven't tried the bd1n, because I haven't found it in stock at a retailer I trust.

But the s110v is well worth the upgrade over BD1. I held out a long time waiting for BD1N to try, but yesterday I broke down and ordered two more in s110v, and have given up on getting one in BD1n for the time being.

I think the UKPK S110V is worth it providing you have the means to sharpen it. Like Nate, I bought it more for the nice blue handle than the steel. Sounds kind of silly but it's true. If they offered the same handle color in BD1 or BDN1 I'd be perfectly happy with that.

I have a set of shapton pros, should be fine. Not as fast as diamond but a bit of patience should see it right

Absolutely worth it, at least for the MAP price at the major dealers. I love mine and it could absolutely be my only knife if I were a reasonable and pragmatic person...

I just learned about this knife during a period of insomnia. It's small and a slicer with one of the best steels available. I will order it Monday.
