An alternate MBC program

To : ALL

For those of you who can't make the Mike

J(anich) program in Golden, here's my cost

effective alternative. Add your idea(s) and

meebee we'll have something here :

1.) If you have a heavier Spydie ( say Chinook ) you can brain your opponent with

it. ( HORSES!?!)

2.) Pull a Ladybug...watch your opponrent

die..of laughter!

Or...

3.) Pull a Civilian...watch your opponent

die..of a coronary!

4.) If all else fails, there's always the

"tried & true" 185grain JHP!

5.) No gun, you say? Step on his goddamned

feet!

Anybody else have any brilliant idea(s)?

What say the augerers?

Speaking of MBC, since the run away was invented, no more problems for me with the fights
Allen, please elaborate point 4.

JHP = jacketed hollow point, referring to bullet design. The 185 grains refers to the weight, in the old English system. That is a typical bullet weight for a .45 caliber bullet, although I used the 230-grain bullets myself when I carried a .45 pistol.

Myself...I like the 155 grain Federal +P JHPs that my Glock 10mm spits out...All 16 of 'em!

(I'm too **** old and out of shape to run-away from a fight...).

that's the beauty of the 45 though, you only need 1 shot. with the glock you might have to use all 16 rounds. take care

LOL! The muzzle energy from a normal 10mm 185gr load (not even a +P load, as Dann suggests) is 425 ft-lbs. The muzzle energy from a .45 Auto with the same bullet weight is 385 ft-lbs.

I like my .45 Auto. But you don't seem to be letting the facts get in the way, are you Sven?

I preferred my back up 4 D-cell Maglite as a persuader when I was on patrols but these guys seem a little more serious. No one's opted for a Black Talon or Hydroshock load yet.

Since were way past non-lethal force, I'll hang with the trusty old M82A1A, semi-automatic, air cooled, box magazine fed rifle chambered for .50 BMG or 12.7 x 99mm NATO. For when you just want to reach out and touch someone - at up to 1800 yards. The more distance between me and my attacker....the better.

Or the M249 SAW - Nothing says I love you like a belt fed weapon.

I always use a trick that I have learned from the old cast of "Saturday Night Live"
When someone starts to bother you,you just go;"Hello friend, have you heard the word of the Lord lately..?" Makes most bad guys back off..
If that doesn´t work we´ll go to Plan B.

A Colt or Glock is difficult to conceal, and you can miss. A steeltoe to the groin will drop 'em every time!

After that, RUN!

By the time you read this, you'll have already read it.

I love my SigPro 2340 in 357Sig. I love my Spydies too, but a knife fight is something I would like to avoid forever. EDC is the Glassht. special Endura, so I feel if I was ever forced into a life or death, with no Sig, I might come out OK. Running would still be plan A

Rex, thanks for the infos. Firearms are prohibited here (to law abiding citizens, of course) and the only knowledge in this matter regards the AK-47 I had in the army. Some knowledge anyway

awareness, flashlight, baton, run, knife...

IF I'm caught off guard, or can't blind em, I just brain em with 21" of steel :D

I usually stick around long enough to open and hole and run like ****. If they can stick with me after 6 blocks of flat out sprinting, they either get another dose of the 21" baton or my shoe implanted into any bodypart that gets in the way.. Knife is a last resort option that should be felt before seen, and my knife hitting flesh means the SHTF.

Baton alone allows the full force spectrum anyways. Anything from a bruise to bruised or broken bones, to a smashed skull.

Wouldn't someone wanting to harm you assume you might go for a groin shot? Also, adrenaline and anger dampen pain, so the bad person may hurt, but not until well after you're ready for a meet-and-greet with your creator.

What about when the attacker isn't, um, male? If you can strike both ovaries with one slap or punch, your hands must be huge.

I've heard it still hurts like crazy...hands, feet, whatever...when you hit gonadal organs, pain usually follows. But ask a female for certainty. :p

Sometimes, reflexes outweigh adrenaline, too. If your attacker knows they've been crushed, that might have an effect combined with the pain.

I have watched a lot of MMA fights, and also have some personal experience in that field. And although they are ringsports they also have a lot of heightend adrenaline levels. Although less then in a life and death situation, kicking a male in the balls is very unpleasant and will at least cause a distraction.
Oh btw when the females in our FMA class get accidently kicked in the groin (instead of a lowkick to the inside of the tigh) they tend to crumble up also, so altough more "protected" they do feel a lot of pain there.

Vox's suggestion is still my favorite. I'll confess that a variation on it made me eagerly look forward to telemarketer calls for a while. :p I considered it a major "victory" when one of them hung up on me. As for "Plan B", I could always whip out 200 photos of my dear departed cats, and bore Mr. BadGuy to death.

Just to clarify, I no longer teach in Golden, nor do I teach under the auspices of Spyderco. All my current training is conducted under the sponsorship of Masters of Defense. For information concerning upcoming training events, please consult my web site http://www.martialbladeconcepts.com.

With all that said, it's important to understand that we already use several of the tactics suggested. As any MBC alumnus will attest, we step on feet a lot and also incorporate groin shots and other strikes into the overall system. We also carry firearms, train diligently in their use, and agree that shooting people is also an effective way of stopping them.

The world is an imperfect place and NOTHING is ever guaranteed to work 100% of the time. That's why we keep our tool boxes well stocked.

Stay safe,
