Somebody call the police there's a manic on the loose
Hahaha, love it. If I were to try this it would be with a 8cr13mov, VG10 or S30V at best. I'm not spending 2 weeks sharpening anything else from beyond dull.

See that's exactly why I've kinda moved away from high wear steels. I do have stones that cut very fast and for the most part make short work of it but I'm getting to the point where if I can't easily bring it back on a Sharpmaker I'm not interested.

If the Native 5 Salt ever gets released, I’ll be more than happy to give it a run with the LC200N. I’ve almost ordered 10 knives while waiting for that fricken’ thing to drop.

This sounds like an interesting idea but I can't even make it one week. I use my knife every day and after a few days if it does not glide through whatever I'm cutting it at least receives some stropping or a light touch-up on my Sharpmaker. I'm not worried about it getting dull as I can always take it to my Wicked Edge. Maybe I should give it a try with my V-Toku2 Delica which I've been very impressed with :)

I don’t think I could do this.
Just the other day my Delica started cutting foam a little raggedy so I hit it with a pocket stone right on the spot.

It's a conspiracy, the Native 5 Salt doesn't exist! O.o

I do not see the advantage / win here.

Not taking care of a tool is not wise in my eyes.
I knife should cut. For that it needs a sharp edge.

Like using a car in the winter with summer tires.
Doable but not fun.
Despite that there is no learning curve in a dull edge.

It’s not possible for me to tolerate a dulled knife.
Yes, it can turn out to be tough!
Anyone can always start and give up, the important thing is to get to know your knife better, get to know yourself better and share the experience.

I'm thinking on either the SE Salt 2 or VG-10 Delica.
The question still remains, can we strop the blade during the challenge month?

I would be more apt to be forced to use unconventional sharpening methods rather than be forced to abstain from sharpening all together. Perhaps a "NO SHARPENER NOVEMBER"?

I guess I’m in by default. I didn’t sharpen anything in September and not planning on it in October or November either. What are you guys cutting so much of?

For me, on a weekly basis, the knife that I carry goes through primarily cardboard, cloth, and tape. what comes up every now and then is plastic strapping, zip ties, shrink wrap. Once in a while, wood.

with an exception for deer hunting I could probably do it. The funny thing is that the average person carrying a pocket knife probably won't sharpen between now and next november.

There's no way I could comply with any such concept as a "No Sharpen November" Because with my 204 Sharpmaker set up permanently in one room along with a wide array of stones and shapening tools on that same bench>> and with using knives as much as I do it just wouldn't work for me at all. To me it would actually be a form of punishment in some respects. Because I'm to the point to where if my knives don't go through something like a laser I tend to get uptight about it  .

As with a lot of ideas we see here at Spyderville I'm sure there was some good intention but that's just flat out unreasonable for me

On a similar note, I'm not a fan of how quickly s110v loses its extremely keen edge. I don't sharpen to that point very often (usually it's just 325 grit + stropping for an excellent slicing, working edge... Which can whittle hairs, but not after some use), but when I do I'm surprised at how little use it takes to kill the insane bite i had previously put on it. Several steels that would be considered "lesser" are moving up in my personal ranks.

Has anyone ever made a thread about which models they've heard have absolutely outstanding heat treats? Even if its riddled with anecdotal opinions that would be interesting. I've been very impressed with buck's s30v and Cold Steel's XHP amongst many other spyderco offerings.

There's no way I could go all month without sharpening.

I'm in. I'll use my Byrd Slip-it, provided I can get it rebeveled and sharpened. I've not rebeveled it from the factory edge yet.
