ATR ™ 2
Re: ATR ™ 2
Hi Ashiezky,
Welcome to our forum.
The first ATR was built about 1999. Titanium integral Compression Lock. They were very popular, even at the high price. the vendor for the Titan handles closed up shop, so the model was discontinued. Then we made a stainless version in Seki with an integral Compression Lock. ran for a while, then disco'd. It took quite a while to do another run.

Sal, is there any chance of the all Ti handle ATR ever coming back?sal wrote: ↑Fri Oct 12, 2018 8:21 pmHi Ashiezky,

I like the ATR. Just by looking at it, you can see it means business.

Honestly the G-10 was the best upgrade ( even though cheaper) :) that they could have made on this knife. The SS and Ti were very slippery with just a small amount of moisture. This new version is the perfect hard user.

Re: ATR ™ 2
Titanium is nice and all but I agree, for a knife that's supposed to be the epitome of tactical it makes more sense to have a grippy handle material. If it had to be titanium it needed some kind of machining for grip texture.

Re: ATR ™ 2
Anyone own both an older one and a newer one? How do they compare? I lusted after the original but never had the funds for one. I’m currently waiting on the Smock but the ATR2 is on my radar.

Re: ATR ™ 2
I have the SS ATR and ATR2
I'd say (short version) the old one is cooler and the ATR2 is the better knife :)

Re: ATR ™ 2
Thanks, I wish there was a local distributor so I could see how it feels in hand. The Cobra hood especially concerns me. I am sure that I would adjust to the feel pretty quick. I switch size, locks, etc. all the time and it’s not a problem. I feel better buying on line if I already have the same or a similar knife though.

It also leaves a big empty chunk out of the thumb ramp if you do.

Re: ATR ™ 2
I actually was going to treat myself with ATR2 for Xmas. But since I do not have Para2 I am hesitant. The difference is almost $100. Is ATR is so much better?

A PM2 is a must.kirill.sergueev wrote: ↑Sat Oct 13, 2018 11:08 pmI actually was going to treat myself with ATR2 for Xmas. But since I do not have Para2 I am hesitant. The difference is almost $100. Is ATR is so much better?
Buy that first and then later the ATR, of you still feel like it (heck, its Spydercos, they are addictive - lets face it, you'll eventually biy both :-) ).
Re: ATR ™ 2
Well, now the atr is the same price as a pm2, get moving

Re: ATR ™ 2
Just saw that the ATR 2 is on the discontinued list. Any plans/desires to bring the design back again or is this likely to be our last crack at getting an ATR for the foreseeable future?sal wrote: ↑Sat Oct 13, 2018 12:18 pmProbably not.ugaarguy wrote: ↑Fri Oct 12, 2018 8:43 pmSal, is there any chance of the all Ti handle ATR ever coming back?sal wrote: ↑Fri Oct 12, 2018 8:21 pmHi Ashiezky,

It's a Stretch that has gone Beastmode.
Re: ATR ™ 2
Even though I try to avoid detent based locks, I may have to order one of these. I feel like its such an iconic Spyderco design, and the first was something special. Especially at close-out pricing....tough to say no.

FS at $140. Not a bad price. Not bad at all.
