What do you use your Spyderco for?

#1

Post by Luddite »

Today I helped set out a field target course and I used my Tenacious for cutting back thick brambles and shortening a couple of range lines made from a third of an inch thick nylon rope.
Afterwards I carefully washed the blade and tested it for sharpness.
Passed with flying colours. :spyder:

I often use it at work for cutting up stuff like packages. At the archery range I've used it the carve makeshift pegs for sticking targets on the backstops when the proper ones were lost. Also used it in the woods while hiking or mt. biking. Heck, I've also cut food with em.

opening packages, cutting food, carving tent pegs when I forget my stakes, making feathersticks and sparking ferro rods to start fires, trimming back brambles etc. on hiking trails, breaking down cardboard for recycling, cutting rope & paracord, etc.

I use mine for any kind of cutting task. Typical for me would be:

Cutting up cardboard
Plastic packing straps
A fair amount of food prep
Cutting open packaging
Yard/ garden work

I also use them a lot just for fun, like slicing up power cords (to push the limits), whittling and wood carving, etc. I enjoy using my knives and sometimes, if there isn't anything to cut, I find something. :)

Today it was the s110v pm2 on cement board siding. The skil saw can’t fit in some tight spaces. The s110v just keeps cutting and cutting. Cement board is really hard and I’m grateful for something that can get the job done as I don’t have a jig saw.
Next week I should be back to cutting sheet rock.

Really heavy duty stuff like opening envelopes and packages, cutting up cardboard for recycling and opening those infuriating clamshell packages.

Used my fradon marbled cf/4v manix to open up my blade hq m4/jade yo 2. They roll it up like a burrito in a usps bubble wrap envelope and then stuffed into cardboard box.
Fortunately I have a nice sharp hollow sabre grind to get through it all. ;)

Endura 1 SE 30 years old AUS 8 steel

Cutting rope, cardboard plus anything else.
Needs a touch up to bring back ultra sharpness
But it still does ok.
I like the thickness of the Endura 1 in the hand
And the way my palm rests against the plastic handle.

Tried using Endura 3 combo in ATS55 but haven't put a really good edge on the flat edge yet.1
The SE part works fine.
The screw in the handle came undone in my pocket so took metal clip off completely.

Not a fan of combos so might sell it.

Looking forward to trying my H1 PAC salt on everything.
3 x Endura 1 SE, 1 x Endura ? CE and a Black Pacific Salt. Want Aqua Salt, Fish Hunter and a Pacific Salt Yellow.
