I would gladly pay $162 for a CF/HAP 40 Endura but the Delica is a bit on the small side for me.

Great setup for sure. You can see why those who have the sprint CF Delica 3's hold them in such high regards. I like mine even more after giving it the "abbazaba treatment." Something about a coated blade with carbon fiber I just cant get over. I hope Fradon keeps on it with new models and different types of carbon fiber.

This is my first Delica, I figured if I was going to get one, I might as well go big. I'm not disappointed at all.

Very nice looking. If you use it, you'll love it. Slices like a demon! The KC Pakkawood is my first and only Delica. Same steel as this, it's fantastic.

What’s the texture of the carbon fiber? Is it smooth or slightly grippy? Hard to tell from some of the picks.

Nothing. I’m just pointing out that it’s a completely different construction than the FRN version. Just like the Manix is different that the LW etc. It just wasn’t called the Delica LW so I don’t think people fully grasp the difference is more than just the cost difference of whatever material over FRN. A non FRN Delica is not really a sprint of the FRN Delica.

And FWIW, I think the version you envision might actually be more expensive, as it would require machined pockets on the backside of the scales.

Point taken, and you’re probably right about the expense. Though this exclusive isn’t far off a CF para 3.

True. First, Golden seems to be able to produce things at a great value. Seki has been lagging in this regard, but there are more mouths to feed, so to speak. Also, a back lock is more parts than a compression lock.

It has been 15 years since a Delica has been dressed up in Carbon fibre scales.
I think they have done it well with this update. If you are a Delica fan this will make a great Sunday, going to church knife.



A few things have changed since the last Delica CF.

Being a Gen 4 the blade has changed.



The 2003 Delicas only had a single steel liner on the clip side. Which means that you couldn’t change the clip to the other side. The new model is a just a little bit heavier and a little wider than the older model. But you would only notice the difference on close inspection of the 2 models.



Compared to the Delica SS and the FRN?
Just a touch wider than the SS, but very much lighter.
Just a touch heavier than the FRN, but very much thinner.



I think it fits into the line up nicely, :D I like it.

Fradon lock dropped the price and it's the same as the St Nick's and the knifecenter delicas now

Good call. Apologies for hijacking the Deals thread! I'll post pics of mine (with its scratches) in a bit.

Mine is scratched at almost all the screw locations around the scales. It looks like it was rushed thru production, or the tech didn’t give the CF the necessary attention to prevent cosmetic damage. Mine looked new/untouched otherwise.

I’m happy to keep it as-is because at the price I paid, I can live with the minor cosmetic issues. It is very sleek/slender. Totally different knife than frn versions.

So here's mine. A few very minor rough edges on the scales, that uneven backspacer edge (which my pakkawood delica has, too), and the lamination line is a bit wonky on one side (they're uneven btw the two sides on my pakkawood delica). None of these things bothers me especially, and actually I really like the knife. It's slimmer than the pakkawood by a fair bit, and feels really nice in the hand. Totally worth $106 imo, except...the one I got has quite a few smalls scratches on the scales. I'm wondering if this was a return that might have caught a few studs going in and out of jeans pockets or something. If it came this way from the factory, no bueno!

So, I don't have any other smooth carbon fiber to compare it to. Anyone that does, have you noticed it scratches up easily? I'd like to exchange this one for a "clean" one, but if it's just going to scuff up a bit in my pocket, then maybe it's not worth the effort to return it. The scratches are really only visible from a certain angle, making them hard to capture on camera.
