Spyderco p4 praise

#1

Post by DBCOOPER »

I cannot say enough good about the p4, the k390 is wonderful stuff, tough enough for the thin blade, holds a razor sharp edge for a lot longer then most steels I've used, isn't chippy like s110v (in my experience), and the blade is even less thick then one of my favorites the pm2, so it slices like a dream, and it fits perfectly in my huge hands as the pm2 is almost to small.
What do you spydiefolk think about the p4? sense it has been out long enough for people to get a good feel of it

Welcome to the forum.

Best new knife release of 2017 IMO! Been using it for a year and the Wow factor has not worn off. And yes, K390 might perform better than any steel I've ever used... I've been trying my best to lobby for more K390. Ideally a full Seki sprint run, but I'd settle for a PM2 ;)

A full Seki run would be amazing. I'd love a Dragonfly in K390.

Vivi I have a feeling you will like it especially if you like the police 3, Spyderco really uped their game with this one.
Also anything more with k390 would be amazing, I'd really like a delica or pm2/3, I've also heard about a frn police 4, hopefully that will also have k390, it's already such a light knife tho, hopefully there will be some Sprint run p4 in the near future.
I also agree that it was the best knife 2017, and also in my use k390 has proven it's grit to me in the 3 months I've had it

This is one I will never part with. K390 and the blade, this thing is one bad mamba jamba. It screams to be used and cuts like no one's business.

Do you guys administer CPR to the folks who swoon when you whip that bad boy out? :p

I don't have a police but the handle seems so slim for such a long blade. While nice for pocket space does it feel secure/ stable in the hand or does it want to twist?

Sjucaveman it has an amazing feel and locks into my hand very well, I've never had the feeling it would twist or slip if this answers your question.
And I don't do CPR, I use it to redirect lightning tho to recessitate them xD

I just ordered one of these too.. I wasn't going to but I've really been loving the spyderedge P3 lately and well, I wanted to try a plain edge and K390...
It was either this or the military, and I don't even like backlocks, but the P3 carries so well and has pretty much the military blade shape (which I like).. And its actually a useful size, once you get used to it :)

Does anyone else EDC this blade? I know its large, but I can never even feel it in a pocket.

It really does carry well. I put a deep carry clip on my and it simply disappears in my pocket. EDCing it in the office might be a little extreme, but it's been out and about a few times.

My praise is usually communicated with pictures if no one minds :D

I've EDC'd my Police 3 off and on for the past decade with zero issues. Then again it looks like a normal sized knife for my hands:

My buddy who wears a size M glove, it'd be a lot more noticeable if he tried to carry and use one IMO.

I've carried it to an office job, EDC'd it when I did PC repairs at the clients location, have used it to cut up food at picnics in busy public parks etc. Never had a problem with people reacting funny.

I love the P3 blade shape for utility and ease of sharpening, but having used the Military plenty I know the P4's shape will work for me too. It'll be a little better for cutting food on a cutting board.
