The more I think about it the more I think I might have a pretty good idea what the blade will be. I just hope it’s not a coated blade. Nothing wrong with them I just prefer a non coated blade. I have been saving up for the folding knife that Carter Cutlery is coming out with but this one may dip into those funds.

Black hardware so surely must be DLC coated like their Delica exclusive.

Any chance it could be "HAP40/SUS410 laminate steel"
The Para 3 is made in Golden Colorado and HAP40 is a Japanese steel by Hitachi. If I remember correctly, Hitachi doesn't allow others to heat treat their steel, so I would imagine the St. Nick's exclusive would have to be something else since it's made at the US factory.

I have a feeling this is going to be Rex45 or 20CV.

I was wondering if it would be a case of that...

Im going to say I dont think it Rex45 or 20CV, we have JUST had the Rex45 and DLT are about to drop the 20CV...

That is kind of what makes me think it's going to be one of those steels. Their HAP40 Delica dropped right after the HAP40 Wharncliffe Delica and I imagine (but could be VERY wrong) that it's easier to have a small run exclusive made with a material that Spyderco happens to have on hand at the time.

Another must have for me, regardless of steel. I'm going to have to sell off some safe queens to pay for all of these Para exclusives that keep dropping nonstop. First world problems.

Because the DLT Para 2 is 20CV, I’m guessing this one might be as well. Black and Red look so good together! I’d probably buy it if it were 440C :D

But St. is for Saint? In this case is Saint Nick of Bari.

Saint Nick of the North Pole, maybe?

If I were Ol' Saint Nick, these are the colors I would have.

How much work to remove the black DLC coating?
Interesting if the steel is unusual or unique.

Out of curiosity, would the DLC offer REX45 any increase in rust/corrosion resistance?

Nope. Here's a quote that supposedly came from TazKristi that I found on BF.

"The DLC does not help with corrosion at all. If your blade is going to rust then it will rust right through the DLC. Cleanup is the same, you can remove the rust without altering the coating at all."
Time for another :spyder:!

Seems rather pointless in that case. (Imho, of course.)
