Sometimes the metal backspacer is more for balance and handling so frn wouldn't offer the same advantage. The shaman for instance needs the heavy backspacer to balance the knife.

Sorry to disappoint. It is planned for the same bi-dIrectional texture as the Endura family.

Balance was the reason of my concern and the wish for steel in the back, but with the thin stock and FFG it might work. The sabergrind Endura could definitely use one.

Since the new FRN versions will be lightweight you could bring back the Boyd dent and shave off a few more grams from the weight. :D Just a thought. I have the current G-10 P4 and I love it. It's probably my absolute favorite Spyderco I've ever had, but I can imagine slightly preferring the boyd dent on it.

Really great job on this design Sal! I can't wait to get my hands on 1 or more of the FRN versions, probably the ZDP-189 and K390 versions you had said were likely to be coming. It has been fun to learn more about your thoughts behind the model and K390 on this forum.

Like Vivi had said earlier, I'd vote for some of the K390 blades to be coated black with the DLC or TiCN? (I prefer DLC) I'd prefer that over a non-coated blade on K390.

Any update on these being released?? Could it be before 2019?

My biggest complaint about the Manix LW is the balance, feels like it wants to fall out of your hand

You mean with one of these bead sculptures? Would be an option as well but I don't want anything dangling on my knives.

Thank you, I agree. I was replying suggesting it's use as a counterweight in lightweight knives.

No room for a lanyard hole, but I imagine a custom or aftermarket lanyard bail or loop of some sort could be screwed into one or both sides of the scale using the unused clip screw holes. Depending on the design, it could still accommodate both tip up or tip down.

Something as simple as a a U shaped piece of wire with the ends pounded flat and drilled through for the (longer loctite'd) screws, for instance.

I, for one, am perfectly fine with FRN back spacer.
