Bradley 2, safety

#1

Post by gull wing »

I got a GB2 recently and I'm not sorry I did. After profiling to my liking, it cuts so very well, it's amazing.
It feels lighter than I remember my old GB1.
Ok, to the question.
When closed, the tip of the blade is very close to the end of the handle. Pressed my finger on the handle and I see it could cut me. Now I've cut myself with another knife with this sort of situation. (It was a CRK)
THIS EVER HAPPEN TO YOU?
You don't have this problem with a knife that has a filler instead of open back.
I may fit a small filler just in that area.

I have a GB2 and it has never caused a problem. I never stick my finger close to the end of the knife to get cut or cause a problem. The GB2 is one of my favorite knives of all time.

I had that happen with my Southard. I ended up taking the tip down ever so slightly.

The tip on mine is close to the edge but even after extensive carry time it has never been a problem for me and it is one of my favorite knives. The action is smooth as glass.

A rather weak detent is really my only complaint with it.

Congrats on the GB2! What a great blade.

Neither of my GB2s are that close to the end of the handle, but my Police4 bit me once because it is.

I’m looking at my new GB2 and the blade tip is well enclosed within the scales.

My GB2 actually did cut me when I reached my thumb into my pocket. I was so incensed I returned the knife immediately (it happened immediately after I got it). I hope they do something about that on future iterations of the knife.

Looking at mine, I see what you mean. Pressing my finger over the handle butt where the blade tip is located and it just barely touches the "top" of the blade tip. I carry tip up and that part of the butt faces towards my pant seam, so the potential tip issue has never interfered with my hand sliding in and out of my pocket. However I can understand your concern.

Same here. No problem since.

Never an issues, I actually appreciate that there is very little to no wasted handle space. The GB2 is a favorite of mine, and such a supreme slicer.

I like also the longest blade possible within a handle. I also like to be safe.
I've added a little safety to mine, now I feel much better. :D

I had one. Outstanding knife and didn’t have that issue.
