In the Spyderco Byte, it says that Spyderco has depleted their inventory of the Techno. So I wouldn't expect any discounts at retailers since the discount typically originates at Spyderco when they are over stocked.

Discontinued knives do not have to follow MAP... Dealers decide the price on non MAP inventory

True but that doesn't negate what I wrote. When Spyderco has too much inventory of a discontinued knife, they sell it at a discount to dealers who then pass along the savings to customers.

True. When I said inventory I was referring to technos on shelves collecting dust at dealers prior to the discontinued announcement/last shipment from SFO.

Does anyone know when or if they will drop the price ?

Was hoping that the techno 2 would have a lockbar insert. That's one of the reasons I ended up selling my Slysz stuff. Incredible design, but had some longevity concerns that got validated.

I tried the Techno twice and both times my issues with it were confirmed. Won't pick one up no matter the price. My hope is the new version will resolve my concerns. Waiting for reviews. Fingers crossed.

Does anyone know when and if the price will drop meaning should I buy now or wait ??

Our inventory of the Techno is depleted so I wouldn't anticipate any discounts on it from Dealers.

What issues were those? Just curious because Techno 2 is my most anticipated, and debating picking up original to have it as well. Curious if the extra belly near the tip on original with more of a point would benefit me more than the modified sheepsfoot of the Techno 2 (I really love that swedge).

The two I got were sooo tight I could not roll the blade open easily. So, I loosened the pivot less than 1/8 of a turn and blade was so off centered it scraped the scales. Just never could get it to sweet spot that worked for me and still be centered.

Could just be I had really bad luck or am too picky. Either way, anxious to check the new out. I like much about the new design, especially that it is thinner and sheeps foot.

Does anyone know where I can get a custom backspacer for the spyderco techno ?

https://cuscadi.de/ will do almost anything custom plus what they have on their site. Ebay would be another source.

Mine has a Cuscadi CF spacer that is a lot more subtle than the blue.

If you want one now is prob. the best time to buy and still get a good price...as dealer inventories deplete then prices will jump as supply dwindles.

Many sellers are Authorized Spyderco Dealers. National Knives is one example.
