Thanks again sharp guy! Did my first two dye jobs last night. Used frost gray Rit dye more.

Looks good.
I dont like the jade handles but after seeing this might even buy a jade handled knife, if its in a steel I really want. Then Id just dye the scales.

Thank you! I am not a big fan of jade either. But I do like that it is a choice simply because of the dying option. This was my first attempt and am very happy with it. It also changes color depending on the light. Sometimes gray, sometimes black, and maintains some of the translucency too. If you haven’t done it before, watch bladehq on YouTube do it. Super easy mod.

Hello!

I'm brand new here and I have a quick question about using Rit Dye as this thread seemed to be the most appropriate.

Has anyone ever tried using Tan Rit Dye? The reason why I'm asking is I'm thinking about trying it out on my gray Endura 4, but I've yet to find an example of someone using this color on FRN.

Thanks in advance!

I used Rit dye-more Sandstone(basically tan)on both these. Same dye solution, but different soak times. About 5 minutes for the lighter, and around 15-20 for the darker. Shaman was jade, and nilakka was ivory. Not sure if that helps you or not.

That is helpful! Especially the "soak" times that you provided. Thank you!

Just finished my first rit dye and I'm super happy!

Brand new yellow native 5 salt. Was going for black. I checked it after about 1 minute and it looked like this. Thought it looked very cool!

Wow, that came out great! Did you use black? I would've thought it would be more of a brown. Would you say it looks Forest Green in person?

Thanks!

I used about half a package of black powder dye. Didn't measure it, just guessed. 2 cups of water and 1 cup of vinegar.

Maybe a little darker than forest green--but very close. Here's a pic with my Big Green Egg for reference...

Aquamarine RIT for about 30 mins on the Carribean gets you something like this.

I just completed my first Rit Dye project. Converted a BHQ PM2 M4 from natural G10 to "royal blue".

It came out OK. Closer to blurple than I had wanted, but still like it lots better than the natural.

Kind of closer to a denim blue, imo...

Next to the blurples...

This was the royal blue Rit Dye powder, for about 15-minutes.

Very good job! I think this color should be a standard offering.

Is that as forest green as it looks to me in the picture? I just ordered a Dragonfly Salt and I LOVE the way that turned out.

Was going for a bright orange, turned out kinda pumpkin spice. My 6 year old said it looked like rust, and I love the irony in that.
