Thought I would post this up - just got a burnt orange Para 3. The orange came darker than expected, but still not something I really liked.
I used ritdye synthetic sapphire blue - less than 10 minutes total.
I am by no means a rit dye expert (only fourth knife) - but as expected, the base color is so dark that the whole scales very quickly turned close to black. I was hoping for more blue or even blurple. Ended up a few shades darker than the maroon s90v native. Or maybe more like a dark brown.
It is rainy and overcast today, so sorry for the indoor pictures. If you struggle to see the color, it's because it really is pretty dark. That's a manila folder for background contrast. When I was re-assemblying the knife, my younger daughter commented, "Oh, you made it black?"
Edit - I sanded the inside edges so they were smoother - felt almost like there was an frn burr. There is a tinge of blue/blurple lining the inside of the knife where I sanded. It seems the sanded area may take the dye a bit better? However, there in no way to sand the entire scales due to the volcano pattern.
