Very snazzy. Rarely see purple dye jobs but this really pops. Which color did you use to get there from teal?
It’s the powdered Rit “Purple” over the original light teal. I let it soak for about one minute, really pops!

I am amazed at how well FRN takes color.

That looks great, I should have gotten one of those to dye dark green. Did you disassemble it to dye, or just dip it whole?

Two more examples of racing red:

The first is the bright orange DLC XHP Shaman from Cutlery Shoppe, the second is digi-camo PM2 scales with a Maxamet blade that I acid etched. There's a bit of a splotchy line on the cutting edge because I used nail polish to keep the edge - I'll take the imperfection over sharpening Maxamet.

Non-Spydie content, but this thread inspired me to try dying some scales so here they are:

Image

Used Rit Cherry Red with a few drop of Black. Both blades had different shades of Busse’s tan canvas micarta. Was a little worried about the low corrosion resistance of the SR-101 (52100,) so I only used hot water, dish soap, and dye in the mix, no salt or vinegar.

Was going for maroon and think they came out excellent. Almost threw my Manbug Salt in the mix, but left it as I like the yellow on my keys for high visibility.

I dig it, especially the smaller/lighter colored one. It has a sort of "dried blood" appeal :D

Also you're killing me with the Busse's. I was on their website the other day. That chopper is so BA I may need something like that in the future. My only hesitation is that I've also been wanting a Big Chris custom and they're around the same price and realistically I'd use his style and size knife a lot more. The caveman in me needs that big thick chonker.

Thanks. Agree on the small one, almost a blood-stained leather look… :D

Yeah, not to go too far OT in this thread but I hear you on the customs. Would like to support a few makers out there and may still do it some day, but I like the Busse aesthetic so much it’s hard to move off my spot. They do make/have made much more practical stuff than the fatty above (though I love that one in large part because it’s so over-the-top,) but as you know most of their releases are fairly limited and hunting stuff down on secondary can be tedious.

Thanks! I disassembled it. I didn’t want the dye to get trapped anywhere. Disassembly on the Para 3 LW isn’t hard though.

And I'm impressed with your dye job. Great work! Looks amazing, especially with the darker hardware.

It was this or a red / yellow / green rasta handle. Red rit dye hadn't come in the mail yet so the decision was easy.

Came out a bit dark, was going for a look to match my M4 Chief.

Either way I think it's crazy how few sprints we've seen in this green & black combo. It looks great!

Yeah, that's a gentle fade!

Also I wonder if anyone has experience of dyeing "k390 blue" in any color other than black?

These all look so good! Has anyone had luck dyeing the Chaparral gray FRN to a deep blue or purple?

Started out black and slowly fading to green. I typically will dye it again as it fades but this time I'm gonna let it ride and see what happens.
