Custom Replacement Blade?

#1

Post by ugaarguy »

The Cruwear Cult members have taken over every sprint poll here. If I were to buy a Sage 2, who would I contact to get the S30V blade replaced with an identical blade made from Vanax? I'd rather have a Spyderco with leaf shaped blade, finger choil, and Spyder hole than buying a Shirogorov just to get my hands on Vanax. Thanks.

Vanax is fairly new. I expect to see a Spydie folder in it at some point but we may have to wait a little while. We may see it in a Mule first. It does look very promising.

Sorry, I cannot help with getting a custom blade made.

Meh, sals been saying that the mule sales have slowed and he’s more inclined to experiment with a folder. I think this is a good idea, I can’t carry fixed blades regularly and will use folders far more.

Yeah, folding mules would be better for me as well. Maybe they could throw these new mule steels into an existing FRN/FRCP folder like the Manix 2 LW or Native LW to keep costs down, and then use a unique color FRN/FRCP (white FRN on the Native, or crystal clear FRCP on the Manix?) to distinguish them as Mules. And sell them only through the Spyderco website as mules. White FRN would be cool and allow us all to RIT dye customize them.

I'd vote for a Vanax Native 5 LW mule in White FRN as the first model. :D

Perhaps a folding mule would sell the blade and handle separately? That could help hold costs down.

Ugaarguy, you might want to check with RazorEdge knives. I've seen them do a lot of custom work.

I know a guy who makes replacement blades in M390, CPM-S90V, Cpm-20CV, cpm s125v etc...
But he's a long way from the USA and those blades are quite expensive.

Josh is great to work with. I'd definitely recommend asking him first.

I really like the idea of a blade only purchasing option for a folding mule, but it doesn't seem likely.

Wow I just looked at some of Josh's work as well as those Ukrainian videos.

That's it. I will have a pm2 in some exotic steel one day.
