Hi, Funkynoodles:
Welcome to our forum. That is a C35 Q made for Ducks Unlimited. You'll find more information about it here, http://spydiewiki.com/index.php?title=C35_Q. Once on the page, search for Ducks Unlimited.

Great find!

We hope you enjoy your time with us!

Kristi

I never realized there were so many variations of the Q. That DU version is cool!

The wiki says they were only 24 of those made?

Funkynoodles, does it have the box? As far as value, I've seen some of the rarer Q knives go from $300 to well over $400 on eBay, and this certainly qualifies as a rare one.

Wow.
There are two versions of the Ducks Unlimited Q, one with a black handle and one with a green handle. I've only seen a single photo of it with black (courtesy of forum member spyderwa) and I think Funky's is only the second one I've seen with green (forum member Boxer93 having the other).

It's very possible there are only 12 total, as that was the quantity listed by Q collector Barry Carithers, who had done extensive research for his Q article in the Dec. 2003 Knife World (I believe that's a newspaper). He didn't differentiate between the Ducks Unlimited versions, only noting that there were approximately 12 samples. Since he didn't differentiate, that's why I put a "?" after the quantity when I was working on the Spydiewiki page, as I'm not certain if there were 12 of each or 12 total. Barry should have been a reliable source, as he apparently worked in Spyderco's R&D department.

It's hard to dig up info on all these variations, so it's possible D.U. got 12 samples in black, then ordered a bigger run in green. Or 12 green samples and a big run in black. Or they only got the 12 samples and didn't order any more. Based on what we know, and unless other facts come to light, I think 12 total is our best answer.

Spydiewiki does show there were 12 black and 12 green but indicates this is not certain. What a great find.

I like the duck. That may be my favorite of the series.

Yeah, I guess they might be a bit confusing. I'll edit it for clarity.

That's not too bad and will help keep the value on the higher end.

Just out of curiosity, does the box have a SKU/barcode on it?

Nice thanks for sharing. I thank my lucky stars I didn’t get into collecting the Q models. Every time I think I’ve seen them all another one surfaces.

It’s cool to have such a rare knife but man do I hate that thing. Looks ugly and impractical, better send it to me for proper disposal either way.
