Help! What kind of knife is this?

#1

Post by Greenshiva »

Hello,

please help me with this knife. It was a gift, but the person could not remember the name of it. It was bought this year in Germany, if this helps.

I looked at so many photos of Spyderco knifes, but none if it matched mine 100%.

Thank you.

Hi, Greenshiva:
Welcome to our forum. I'm going to move this thread into our General Discussion area.

It's a little tough to be sure because the picture is a little blurry and it's only one picture, but it appears to be a counterfeit of our original Manix (C95). I say it's a potential counterfeit because the blade markings seem off as does the hardware on the handles. Could you post a few more pictures of it? Please include the opposite side as well and a close up of the blade. Happy to take another look but the best way to confirm it's authenticity is to send it in to our Warranty & Repair department for evaluation.

Markings look fake, steel marking on the ones I've seen follows an arc, not a straight line. Screws also look wrong, and there are no clip screw holes on scale. All those things make me think it's a fake. Real ones should look like the top knife in the photo below, aside from the Collectors Club number, which most won't have, and the possibility of a :spyder: logo on the blade if it was produced later in the original C95's production life...
