I'm in! Thank you for the great design. It's a really cool looking knife! Looking back over my 65 years, the biggest standout is my mom. I got my interest in DIY, among many other things and who else would reapolster the seats in my red Falcon with red snakeskin. Yeah, that was high school.

My Grandfather was a P.O.W. in the Philippines. He "worked" on the japanese fighter planes. By work, I mean he would over-weld critical components on them, I want to say oil pans. He said that he never found out if any of them came down, but he was doing his part. He was 220lbs when he went in and 80lbs when he got back to the states, it got bad towards the end of the war.

I have a whole memoir from before he stopped talking about it. It's got some crazy stuff in it.

Hero is rather strong word and I'd tend not to use it much. There are many who served from prior generations. One of those I know from our days is someone who had gone from armed forces to LE and then on several tours in past decade plus.

Most heroes these are unknown and do their work so we can sleep with no worries.

One of my heroes is my maternal grandfather. He fought in WWII and disembarked in Normandy. For his service he was awarded a Silver Star. I can only hope to be as brave as he was.

My hero would have to be my Grandpa. We were very, very close to each other, he has passed since. I always loved talking to him about his service in the Korean War and Vietnam. They sure don’t make them like they use to.

Have to say my hero is my mother. She went through a ton of adversity to raise me and my siblings, and she taught us to constantly grow - lessons she passed along from my grandfather, who served in WW2.

My dad was drafted at 18 and shipped overseas on the Queen Mary. Landed at Normandy a few days after D-Day with an anti aircraft unit. He is my hero.

My hero is my best friend, Andrew P. Brown. On a summer's day back in 1974, Andrew as a young Security Policeman, was called upon to intervene in a mass shooting in the hospital on Fairchild AFB. With a complete lack of regard for his own safety and facing a formidable and better armed madman, Andrew raced into the fray and from a grassy spot some seventy yards away, he engaged that gunman with his Beretta 9mm and definitively ended the threat.

Not knowing if more than one gunman was involved Andrew continued on and helped in search and recovery efforts until he was forced to leave the scene.

Sadly, the incident cost Andrew his career. He was paraded as a hero within hours of the incident and when a B52 crashed on base just a few days later, the hero treatment went into overdrive so as to (I believe) divert attention away from the hot shot pilot who never should've been flying. So later in his career when Andrew said he was having some issues dealing with the incident, the USAF began acting as if he was no longer fit for duty. He finally just gave up and was giving a medical retirement.

Today he works for the Border Patrol and is raising two beautiful kids. Andrew has worked with people like Massad Ayoob and many others on active shooter training and just relating his story in hopes of helping others.

As I would expect no less from him, he has found a way to turn a horrible tragedy into some type of positive. He even gave away the daughter of one of the victims at her wedding. He's also written a book about his experiences.

Andrew is my hero and my friend and if selected this knife will just go to him.

I wonder if he knew my grandfather? My grandfather was there at the same time, although when the war ended he stayed, and worked for the state department. Then he was captured by the communist chinese during their revolution (he was basically running guns from Manila into China to supply Chiang Kai-Shek's forces), and ended up in a POW camp in china for several years. He was eventually traded back in one of those classic cold war trades, but in Hong Kong instead of Berlin (the british had captured a chinese spy and let the US trade the chinese guy back for my grandfather), in the 50's.

But my real hero was my grandmother, who was Phillipino. After my grandfather was captured in China, she packed up their two young children (my mother and her brother shared one passport with no photo on it--which is a crazy thing to see) and moved the USA, a country she'd never been to. She literally knocked on my grandfather's family's front door in Greenville, Mississippi, with a three year old and an infant, having never met any of her in-laws before. Then she raised the children for another three years in a foreign country, waiting for him to come home. Which he eventually did. His career (working for the state department) later took him to Iran in the 70's (he was on the last plane out before the embassy was captured), Saudi Arabia in the late 70's and 80's, Turkey in the 80's...and she went with him to each and every posting.

Just wanted to say Thanks to Michael for his contribution to this forum and looking forward to the release of his first production knife.
Perhaps a little late, but I also have the deepest and utmost appreciation for the life my parents were able to carve out here - and all on the shoulders of our servicemen. They can share the hero mantle as far as I am concerned.

My grandfather is the hero i would like to recognize for his service as a paratrooper in the pacific during WW2. I am named after him, and he died the same year I was born. While the war affected him greatly, his sacrifice as well as those of many others are the reason that I am privileged to call this country home.

My hero would be my stepfather. He served 2 tours duty Vietnam War. Raised 3 children of his own, 2 of which have already passed. He grew up very poor, and without running water. As a 7yr old, he would spend his summers traveling back and forth from Oklahoma to California for pennies bailing hay. Hard worker, man of few words, when he talks you definitely listen. Born in Muskogee, Oklahoma. A true Okie from Muskogee. He knows how to make some really good pinto beans as well. -C

My Dad served in the Air Force for 20 years and still works Civil Service. He helped start me on my knife collecting journey and I still gift him knives that I think he'd find use for. He's currently eyeing my new Spyderhawk and my new Ti/Cf Millie. Don't know if I'll give him those though!

For memorial day, I'd like to remember my Grandmother's boyfriend, John Whitlock. He was a great person and he was like a Grandfather to me. He was a positive influence in my life and taught me many things. He was a Marine and served in Vietnam, and he was an influence to me joining the Marine Corps as well.

One of my greatest heroes in life would have to be my very first boss. He was not in the service, but lived a very hard life as an oilfield hand and taught me the meaning of hard work, responsibility, trust, honesty, and accountability. I was 16 at the time I met Martin and being 33 now I can still reflect on several invaluable life lessons he shared with me when we were working together..
