Seki City G10 vs FRN

#1

Post by jdw »

I was doing light maintenance on my knives over the weekend and I noticed a striking difference between the Seki models that use G10 and the models that are FRN. I was wondering if other people had the same experience? Specifically, does the Seki plant have trouble working with G10? In my completely non-expert opinion the Seki FRN models are far superior in quality of build to anything produced in G10. I think that I read on this forum that a lot of the skilled craftsmen there had gradually been retiring over the last few years but that could be complete rumor bait?? Thanks for the input.

Can't say about quality but it's apparently much more expensive to work with G10 there. My Kiwi 4 was pretty dang perfect.

My only seki model with G-10 (civilian) has a very high quality level, if it is true that it does not feel like the G10 of a manix that I have but in no case would say that it is poorly constructed. Only the sound it makes when it is blocked is enough to understand. regards
