Wow that’s impressive. Thanks for the info.JSumm wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 5:22 amWas at a neighbor's house and he was removing carpet. Helped out with my S110V Military. It was on a slab, so basically ripping into carpet and riding on concrete. Maybe there was some micro-chipping, but nothing you could see with the naked eye. She would still cut, but a little duller than I like, so back home and sharpened in under 15 minutes. A better sharpener with better equipment could have probably done it faster. Bottom line, don't always believe what you read on the Internet. S110V is some good stuff.

Haha!! I can understand why. Fortunately the situation was not too sticky. That picture was taken after a rinse with water.

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?
Used my PM2 to crack open some brick mold for the exterior door leading to the Garage.
Problem, door will not latch. Over time it has shifted away from the strike plate. Too much to influence the wall with a framing hammer from the other side. I tried.
Weapons of choice for the day:
Used the PM2 (thanks DLT!) to cut caulk.
After the brick mold was removed from the exterior, shims were added and nailed into place.
Looks good enough for home improvement, not home perfection. I had just 1 too many shims near the center. 1 less and it would have been close to perfection. It catches now.
Brick mold back on and it is time to caulk.
Painting will be later today or next never. Basically whenever I get around to that part. I have a lot of paint projects I am building up to hit it all at once.

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?
used a manix xl to open my new Pacific Salt 1 in yellow.
Touched up the edge, adjusted the pivot and cleaned the knife. Then saw the fedex truck drop off my aqua salt, so got to put the Pacific to use right away
Feels so weird carrying a yellow salt!

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?
Had to cover basement shafts with a fine metal mesh. My tin snips were not up to the task. The mesh just went between the blades and was bend. Yes, they are done and I need new ones. But Spydercos CPM M4 was able to cut the mesh. And I have to say, I really was surprised how well the M4 held its edge. Sure, there was dulling but nothing too bad and a very fast fix.
Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?
Took my Street Beat camping. It handled all the food prep, fire prep and misc chores for the night.
Been using the aqua salt for this role this year but it was fun bringing out the original street beat. worked every bit as well as I've been saying it does Do need to put a thinner edge on this one though....

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?
A couple weeks ago I used my Byrd Rescue to cut open 30-40 bags of blow-in fiberglass insulation. I had to cut each bag in half crosswise, which meant cutting into the fiberglass about 1 - 2 inches each time. I estimate it was a total of 240 feet, give or take, of cutting through fiberglass.
The knife is pretty dull as you might imagine, but I thought the lowly old 8Cr13MoV handled it well all things considered. And it still cuts fine due to the serrations. Now I need to try to find some time to re-sharpen.
