In general, no. Opening new Spyderco boxes is a great job for existing Spydercos. Specifically though, it was overkill. You could have used a Dragonfly, Ladybug, or something else smaller. We won't judge here. Elsewhere, they might.

So what you are saying is I need to buy something smaller. Ok, gotcha.

Used my Bob Lum sprint to open some suet packages for the birds. They were scolding me because they had to wait through yesterday while I dealt with the brainfog reaction I had to my Moderna bivalent booster.

The Squarehead is a great little package opener! So is the Ladybug.

There are a few insignificant things that make me irrationally angry. This is one of them. I dont know if it was a teenage girl or some old guy but, damnit why spit it right where people have to walk!

Went to some woods behind my house where I used to camp out. Haven't been there much the past year and a half.

Last minute I decided pack was a bit heavy so I took out my scrapyard dogfather (9" s7 chopper).

Bad call. Old trails were overgrown with fresh growth and fallen storm damaged trees made navigation tricky.

Ended up using the aqua salt as a machete to trim back brush to make the old trails passable.

4V Manix got its first action too. Compared its small brush chopping ability side by side with the aqua salt. Thought the extra weight would give it an edge but the thinner, sharper edge of the aqua salt coupled with the longer blade gave it better brush whacking abilities.

Started a small fire with some fatwood we scavenged but didn't get any good pictures.

Nice day out in the woods, but now I know to pack a machete next trip so I can properly re-establish my old trails.

Now, if I could just find the old SE Pacific Salt 1 I managed to lose out there a few years back.....

I've thought about it but Pacific Salts don't react to most metal detectors. Something I noticed when I was a security guard.

Was at a neighbor's house and he was removing carpet. Helped out with my S110V Military. It was on a slab, so basically ripping into carpet and riding on concrete. Maybe there was some micro-chipping, but nothing you could see with the naked eye. She would still cut, but a little duller than I like, so back home and sharpened in under 15 minutes. A better sharpener with better equipment could have probably done it faster. Bottom line, don't always believe what you read on the Internet. S110V is some good stuff.
