Lol - it's ridiculous! My father-in-law was knife-less tonight, and tried opening one single toy. Took him about 2 minutes before he gave up, and said one word: "knife!" Then he handed it to me.TkoK83Spy wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 9:57 pmMy step daughter is going to be 8 in January...best make sure my knives are in tip top shape these next few months :p Amazing how difficult they make the packaging these days for these toys with the clamshell AND plastic tie wraps! I've seen scissors break at parties trying to open these things haha!

I get asked that on a regular basis by my city friends. My friends in more rural areas ask me why I don't carry a gun, too.

I'm quite amazed. People are scared of everything these days. Bunch of candyasses.

Cut some hedgehog mushrooms with my manix 2 lw. Now that I have a microbevel on it, it works great as a woods folder. BD1N seems to be a very well balanced steel.

Sorry, I missed this!
Yeah, it’s the only knife I carried yesterday, the classic SD wasn’t even on me at the time - and I’ve put that lil thing through the ringer... so I decided to see what it can take. The tips definitely not as fine as it was, it has some up and down play, but it had some when I took it out the box. I tightened up the pivot and washed it off in the sink afterwards. That’s it.
In my hawkbill adventure, I carried the Tasman for a week, this week will be the dragonfly and then I’m gonna try to go a week with the ladybug as well.

Edit* this is also my first ladybug and first day carrying it.

Finally got the chance to prep all my garden beds for winter, and decided to put the new SE Pac Salt through its full paces for the first time. Cut back all my hostas, day lillies, and liriope, and I was so impressed with how well the pac salt handled those tasks that I hacked back the ivy beds, too. Like a hot knife through butter, and all with the factory edge! I get it now, guys - I bow down to the awesome powers of H1 in serrated edge! I think I found my new favorite gardening tool.

This pic perfectly illustrates the advantage of the reverse S over a hawkbill for edc.

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?
I have to say I thought this was going to be more of a novelty knife for me, but I'm finding it to be extremely versatile in 'normal' use tasks and now would like to see more reverse S blades added/brought back to the lineup.

I’m enjoying this Shaman immensely, and especially like the Micarta. It’s a nice change from metal/plastic handles, and I think we need more of it! I used it to open my SpyderCards :) I’m excited to see what models are inside.
Edit: wow, that looks bad... click the photo for a (slightly) better look.

Cut up some leftovers for a hoagie.
On another note this has to be the longest I've left a factory edge on a Spyderco I'm using. Combination of carrying my Street Beat most days and the stock edge being thinner than typical. I've touched it up a few times on my medium stone but haven't gotten around to dropping the angle yet.

I cut a bucket in half to make a paint pan.
My A2 liked the taste and ate the rest of the bucket. :D
