Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?
Para 3 s30v cut zip ties. Manix 2 rex45 LW cut the tag of an itchy shirt. Lol. Endela pakkawood cut a string on my wife’s dress. No wait. Para 3 just opened package . I could be here all night.

Opening a bag of dog food. Ah, the hard life of a tool steel
Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?
Cutting 1" black plastic irrigation pipe.
The Wharncliffe blade was a perfect match for the task - the tip for slicing old pipe at barb fittings, and the long straight edge for cutting thru new pipe.

Strapping annihilation!
*edit - as I'm coming towards the end of the work day, I'm quite surprised because this has NEVER happened the past few years of owning this knife, or blade I should say...but it is still cleanly cutting paper and shaving after one day of pretty good use here at work. I thinned it out and evened up the bevels to 17dps and left it with a fairly coarse 600 grit finish before using it today, so still cleanly cutting paper with that finish was a pleasant surprise. I might have to reconsider my initial thoughts on this steel and see how it performs tomorrow*

Thank you, I am very humbled and very blessed. It was a long road that led me here but I couldn’t be more thankful. 🏝

Getting ready to even up the bevels a bit on this guy from my last free hand sharpening job. This little sharpener is a killer deal for $50! Have had great success with it on 5 knives now.

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?
How do you manage to get the plate to get all the way back to the plunge grind??
The design of the triangular holder made it so I could never get the last ~3mm (about double the length of the gap left from the factory) so I did a quick and sloppy "fix" on mine.
It's a great system, otherwise. I love using it to set the bevel angles for an initial re-profile.

Re: What did you use your Spyderco for last?
I agree, that part of it is difficult with this system. I experience the same problem. I've put the knife in the clamp slightly at an angle where the clamp isn't completely on the blade, but held enough for light passes that have got me very close to the plunge. I stacked a couple books under the handle of the knife to help aid in keeping it level. Not the greatest idea, but it's worked so far!Giygas wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 11:29 pmHow do you manage to get the plate to get all the way back to the plunge grind??
