I guess we were the only ones willing to take on the challenge?? :confused: I was looking forward to seeing many more pictures of bisected paint buckets!! Maybe an apple slicing challenge or Amazon package opening challenge would appeal to more folks?? Lol! :D

Honestly though, the whole time I was doing it I felt like a hospital visit was immanent, so perhaps its for the better that no one else attempted this! :)

Steelcity, I guess so. I went ahead and did it again. Only this time, I used the Wolfspyder. It’s in my pocket most of the time, so I wanted to see how it would fare. No edge damage from the bucket(see 2nd pic though). But no where near the same experience as using the PM2. The Wolfspyder didn’t want to go straight through. Wanted to trail either right or left. Also had a tougher time at the corners. I believe the scandi grind played a role in all that. Where as the PM2 went straight down and zipped through the corners. I am definitely wanting to do it more with different models too.

Hey McGrit, cutting through the four crimped layers of 0.010” aluminium at the rim of the can was much harder than I anticipated. I slipped once and thought I may have snapped a bit off the tip but much maligned S30V is pretty tough and the only damage was a micro chip a couple of inches from the tip and only because of lateral pressure. As you can see (newsprint and match) for all practical intents the knife’s still sharp. :)

Hey Bloke. I hastily took your earlier joke as a challenge, and went for the handle too. One solid strike with a 2x4 baton. Lesson learned. This is gonna take a while to repair.....

Not at all! You never know if you don’t at least try. Sorted it out last night while my wife watched The Bachelorette. Now it’s a scandi-vex.

It comes scandi. With a secondary microbevel.

What did you do to fix it?

First I ground the entire edge flat using a coarse Norton SiC (more at the belly to remove the chip). Then I cut a fresh secondary bevel with the same stone. After that the knife was sharp again, but I wasn’t happy with the secondary bevel on this knife. So I got out the mousepad and sandpaper. A few passes on 80 to cut the shoulders off, then a few on 220, then to 1000 and a black/green strop. Admittedly I should have used more grits and done a better job removing the scratches. But I am really happy with the results.

Haha we'll see. I'd hate to ruin a perfectly good drum. On the other hand, it keeps shooting dirty looks at me... And I'm curious how the Endura would handle it...

It still scrape shaves at the tip, and pops ‘em off at the heel. It’s not that thin anymore though. I just convexed it the other night, so it’s a bit thicker BTE now.

A bear can is a bear "proof" cannister for storing your food and smellies in when sleeping in the backcountry in bear country. It's a specialized tool for backpacking. This one is as light as possible, made of carbon fiber and aluminum.
