Cruwear and m4 are tougher,
K390 is tougher then 10v/a11/k294 and Maxamet

Nice link thanks. Really hope I can snag the cruwear pm2 coming but wish it was grey!

I really like cruwear but i already have this in my pm2 so i would like to try 204p or even vanax. I voted 204p because it came first before vanax but my preference goes either way

M4 has the best balance of what I find desirable, for most of my use.

I would really love to try vanax but chose cruwear because it seems more plausible

It only let me vote once but I think cruwear or 4v would be excellent options.

I chose Cruwear. My alternate choice would be 3V.

Cruwear is my preferred steel for all the reasons DBH noted, but I'd also buy M4, 4V or 3V, in that order.
I would have voted for Vanax just to keep it in the mix.

So one solid vote for something not on the list and it's s90v. No other suggestions?

I don't want to have to keep my shaman blade oiled, let's lean towards stainless people.

204p did! M390 with a tad more tungsten.

I believe he tried to stick to American made steels to keep price down as it's a US made knife.

204p is the same stuff, but US made. If you want real stainless stuff go for Vanax.

I've never oiled any of my cruwear or 3v blades and have had zero corrosion issues. I don't use them around salt water though ;)
Corrosion resistance is not a priority for me.

Nope. Why would I select a steel based on what someone else wants? Makes no sense.

That graph/chart is not even close to being accurate on most of the things I looked at. I sure don't think it's something I would show to someone new to this who wants to learn.

From what i read people seem to prefer the ease of sharpening and the type of edge Cruwear gives. Cause it doesn't seem to be better in the standard toughness, corrosion resistance and edge retention points compared to similar well rounded steels like 3V or M4. I guess the difference is in the little things you can't always measure.
I don't care too much about about corrosion resistance and with the thick blade on the shaman i don't think toughness is a big issue. So i personally would aim for a steel with more edge retention.

I like this steel chart from Gary Creely to compare steels. It's not perfect science and complete, but gives a nice guideline.

People read the chart and do a basic analysis. Recast your votes.

According to Rutgers "Gary Creely chart," the best steel option is 204P, and that was my choice. People should have looked at the chart and changed their vote, Cruwear is negligibly better than what the Shaman is made of now!
