Request for a newer bigger version of the Manix 2.

Post by wade7575 »

I don't know about you guys but I would to see a bigger version of the Manix 2 with the same ball bearing lock nothing changed just made bigger like the same size as a Military and I would even pay extra for it to come with a blade made from M4,I wouldn't care if they were 300 buck's I'd still buy 4 them.

There's already a Manix 2 XL - https://www.spyderco.com/catalog/detail ... roduct=711 - which 90-95% of the size of the Military. They're only $140 at most online dealers. There's always a chance for a sprint in another steel.

Yes, the Manix XL already exists and it's got like a 3.9inch blade.

The XL is a bit of a let down for me. I don't care for the change in blade shape.

I like the blade shape but I found the lock too difficult to be pleasant to use and the pommel actually made the handle more cramped than the standard Manix 2. If the XL were a back lock without that hooked pommel, it would have zero competition.

What was it you did not like about the Lock was it stronger then the Manix 2 making it more difficult to pull back.

Now all we need is for Spyderco to show the Manix 2 XL the M4 steel love minus the jade green scales.

Yes. The lock was extreme on the one I had so I sold it. I love the design of the knife, except I would prefer the pommel hook be removed and the lock updated to a back lock.

Not a big fan of the BBL or I'd be all over the Manix 2 XL.

I like the BBL lock on the Manix 2 and if you get one where the blade won't flip open really easy I just take out the 2 small screws at the front of the knife and put them back in with blue locktite and I'm careful on how much I tighten the screws back up,I know for me that's all I needed to make it open buttery smooth,I'd rather deal with a BBL lock over an Axis lock if you get an Axis lock where the locks up if you flip it open to hard that was a problem with a few Benchmades I have but I found just slamming them open about 20 to 50 times cures that problem.

Good advice. However i have no problem with the action, strength, or smoothness of the lock. It just feel awkward to use for me. Nothing more than personal preference.

I have one (Manix XL) and it is just too big for my tase. I would love it if I needed to use a knife wearing gloves. I suppose I should sell it -- or start wearing gloves more. I guess at this point if I need something huge I go for a fixed blade.

I just want the original elongated a bit. Cut the blade off at the plunge line and add half an inch and cut the handle in half in the middle and add half an inch. That's it. Don't change the edge profile or blade angle, don't change the handle shape or clip placement or anything else just stretch it out where it counts.
