Merlin PE or Endura PE?

#1

Post by CKE »

My B-day is about a month and a half away but the 2 places I deal with have either of the two listed above as of now. The Spyderco gods(parents) have left me with $100 Cdn. so I have narrowed my choices to those two, what say you. If it was your choice what would you pick and why? Thanks.

All depends on intended use, I'd say. For general day to day EDC, I'd be leaning Endura-wise <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Hmmm, tough choice. Both are good knives for daily carry. Personally, I tote around a Harpy or SpyderHawk for routine cutting chores (serrated is the way I choose to go in all my Spydies) and my "other" knife is a CF Police SE.

Well, for 90USD, you could pick up both(45 each... just need to pitch in the conversion and shipping, so about 95USD or about 133CAN.

Personally, I got rid of my Merlin PE/ATS-55... just not useful enough for me.

I carry the SE FRN/ATS-55 Endura that Allen gave me back in December as my 24/7 left side knife. Pairs up with a CE 440V Millie on right to handle most tasks. still need a smaller one for sheeple.

Well I can't really say intended use. EDC for an undeterminable amount of time. My only reason for leaning towards the Merlin as they are not meat and potatoes like the Endura. I have been stung before on not buying a Spydie before they are discontinued. I see the Endura not going anywhere for ever. But the Merlin is definelty debateable I guess if demand for them remains. But I want a PE though and don't know how many of them are out there.
VW both for approx. 133Cdn where where where????? I could spring the extra 33 from other B-day cash.

CKE> that would be through Linda "Glasshartt"... shoot an email her way and order. takes about a week to get your MO down there, and about 2 weeks from then you'll be playing with new toys.

Well thanks VW for suggesting Linda. I have been getting alright prices from my sources but Linda blows the doors of them. She just emailed me with her list and what she has avaliable. Cripes and man alive now I have more of a decision. Linda has Ronin's listed and Perrins for a good price so now my decision just got way too hard. This is going to keep me awake all night trying to decide. Any way I look at it though it is going to be a good birthday!

I have Linda's prices written in my ELU copy of the 03 cat... Marker right on the page.

Now you see why we've been promoting and using Linda for a while.

My vote is definitly for Endura. Wondefull thing, can cut trough everything you can cut with knife. FRN-handled one lands in rear pocket and you notice it no more. Straight blade is more comfortable for daily tasks ( at least you are probably used to straight blade).
And what do you think about "Just like dr. Hanniball Lecter had" Harpy for next birthday?
