Are the Chaparrals chamfered?

#1

Post by flash900 »

This review says the FRN Chap has chamfered edges.

I have two CF Chaps (the S30V and the XHP; love these CF Chaps.)

Neither of mine is chamfereed as far as I can tell.

Are yours?

Here's the link to the bladerreviews observations:

"This is a very thin-handled knife, and thin handles don’t always make for good ergonomics. Narrow knives can twist and turn in hand or dig into your palm during hard cutting tasks. Thankfully the Chaparral FRN avoids these problems, with chamfered edges all along the perimeter, adding dimensionality and softening the places pressed against your palm and fingers. A subtle and smart detail that makes a world of
difference."

I would consider that mine is chamfered. I would describe it as subtle chamfering though.

I'd agree with hmr170. The handles on all of my Chaparrals are definitely beveled, but due to their thinness, the chamfer is bound to be a bit more subtle that on some thicker handled models. However, depending on your definition of "chamfered", the edge of the FRN version's handle (like that of most FRN Spydercos) might be more accurately described as rounded off.

Thank you -- I would love to see any photos that illustrate the beveling or chamfering.

You beat me to it. Both of my CF Chaps are chamfered. Not a lot but they are not dead sharp.
