You mean he actually throws peoples' packages at their houses and has no shame or problem with doing that? WOW! That's horrible.

Sorry for your loss. I hope it is resolved but what comes next may be bad/good news. For me, when a UPS driver delivered to the wrong address making a claim made my address blocked for further deliveries of any kind/value by them so as to require a signature. If you get as many deliveries as me (think Amazon Prime) this quickly becomes tedious as "attempts" back up. Once I finally proved it was their error I was again able to have deliveries left on my doorstep. This literally took months. For me the solution was a UPS store (or a Post Office) box. Costly, but I safely pick up things when I want to now, within business hours. I truly hope your knives turn up since equitable products are probably not available (even from Spyderco) and even a cash credit is not going to help restore your loss.

Did you check with your neighbors? I've had UPS drop packages here clearly addressed to folks on my block but 1-3 houses up or down from mine and I've had them leave my packages on neighbors porches, so I think it's worth a shot. UPS website has also shown things as "delivered" when they were not, only to have those things show up a day or two later with no changes on the site.

Hope they do turn up. Having things stolen sucks, having things stolen that can't be easily replaced sucks even worse.

I hope Spyderco has done the right thing and offered you a replacement or store credit at this point. It is their responsibility to get the package into your hands. They hired UPS to deliver it, and UPS did not get it into your hands. So what should happen is Spyderco should replace your knives, then they should file a claim with UPS to get whatever insurance was included on the package. If they did not insure for the full amount, that is on them. If they cant replace the sprint, they should reimburse you for the secondary market value so you can replace it. That is how it works. Plain and simple. I have been doing eCommerce for 20+ years. If a package I shipped was lost/stolen that is how it was handled. If a package shipped to me was lost/stolen, that is how it was handled. It always has and always should be this way.

To be clear, yes, I understand that there are people out there who are scammers and could take advantage of this, and I hope/assume OP is not one of them. Unfortunately that is the cost of doing business and there is nothing we can do about it. I have been selling on eBay for 20 years. I have only had a handful of actual scams, and only a few incidents that I would consider suspicious but couldn't prove it. Most people are honest.

One last thing, OP should file a police report and provide a copy to Spyderco, which they will provide to UPS. If OP doesn't file the report, Spyderco should file a police report with the police in the recipient's city, and provide it to UPS. When a shipper tells a recipient that they are filing a police report, the package often "magically" gets delivered the next day...weird how that happens.

Do you really think Spyderco needs you to lecture them on what is the right and wrong way to do business? You do seem sincerely convinced yours is the correct way and only your way is correct , but who appointed you to high road Spyderco? I'm curious.

I'm just trying to stick up for OP here as a lot of comments seem to be blaming him or suggesting he should have done something differently. I'm sure they have worked it out, but he shouldn't have to hear people tell him it's his fault or the equivalent of "tough luck".

I have had that happen too.

I just take them to the other houses and drop them off when that happens.

Usually a house or two down.

Steel is just weighing in like everyone else has done. I don’t see anything disrespectful in his comments. Don’t make this individual fee like they are unwelcome to state their opinion. That’s how the forum becomes uncomfortable and volatile.

As I see this I am reminded of the “Kindness of Your Hearts...” posting posted by Kristi. I really hope this is not the same situation.

First thing I did, unfortunately no luck there.
I told her I was an ED pharmacist, first time I played the "I'm a Dr. Card" - she didn't realize I work as an ER specialist and thought I only sold erectile dysfunction medications.

Wow Sal, I can't believe someone would offer that. that's incredible.

I remember that posting about "Kindness of our hearts" - I can't imagine how someone would do something like that. On that note, while I really appreciate whoever this person is that offered their Cru-Wear PM2 -I don't think I'd feel right receiving something so generous as a result of thievery.

90% of the value to me in the Cru-Wear PM2 was it's status as a gift from my grandfather and the black one because I bought it for myself as a graduation present. (10% because I just love PM2s) I don't like the idea of another collector/enthusiast donating and sacrificing as a result of my bad fortune/experience. I'd like to wait and see what UPS and the guys in service &. repair come up with.

Lets keep this civil guys, the last thing I want is for this to become a post for animosity or arguing. I posted this experience just for discussion and to share what happened so it doesn't happen to someone else.
