Gun/Knife Travel in California.........

#1

Post by Tom Puderbaugh »

Hi gang,

My wife and I will be vacationing in California soon. I know that I can't carry concealed (firearm) like I do in my home state of Florida.

But what are my other options, in what I have heard is a VERY gun-unfriendly State?....Folding knife, pepper spray, etc? (I have both a Endura and Delica to choose from.)

We will be visiting several large cities as well as spending some time in the back-country, so I'm not very excited about having nothing onhand for self-defense.

So advice from any California residents (or anyone else) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Tom,

No problems in California possessing pepper spray, or normal Spyderco-type folders. The state does not restrict blade length (except at schools and such), but some towns do. If your worried about it stick to the Delica, but I wouldn't expect a typical tourist to run into problems carrying an Endura.

For a more detailed run down on California knife law check out http://pweb.netcom.com/~brlevine/ca.txt

Hope you have a good visit.
Best regards,
Argyll

Fixed blades no matter how big or small, if carried on your person, must be visible at all times, even when you are wearing a coat.

Don't know a thing about gun laws.
